Re: Netflix hikes prices for DVDs + streaming

Looks like I am going to Redbox for physical DVDs and Blu-Rays. No reason not to when there is one 90 ft from the entrance of my job and it seems, every store or gas station, I go to. In fact, I think there are actually 2 in the strip mall I work at.

I would use Redbox if they had them in my area. Never seen a Redbox in the Bronx.

I think you can check online and they show locations... but it is the Bronx

Heh, I checked and they aren't anywhere close to me. Oh well. I'll watch enough movies to justify $7.99 for DVDs.

The ones next to me seem to have a few. Check their website and you can search what each location has.

Also, thinking about it, I only watch instant with my gf (on her account)) so I may cancel that too and try Hulu plus. Does anyone have any impressions about Hulu plus?

I actually looked at a RedBox kiosk menu outside of a Rouse's grocery store. They didn't have many BluRay titles. My guess, maybe 30.

I second the opinions on Hulu Plus.

I've been finding we're watching more TV episodes then movies on Netflix. I'll have to do some more research into this, I may make a switch...

Hulu Plus is definitely worth it. I watch that more than Netflix.

Meh, canceling my streaming and keeping one Blue Ray at a time. I'm just throwing money away on streaming. I haven't watched a movie on Net Flix in at least two or three months. With Blu Ray I can at least finish catching up on Mad Man. Then, drop down to one DVD at a time and watch The Shield (well, some I think some of the seasons are on Blu Ray, I'm not sure). If I get bored and feel the need to watch a movie on streaming I'll get it for a month then adjust the next month accordingly. Yep, that's my plan.

Redbox all the way now. Netflix is making a terrible mistake with this.
I completely agree. I'm canceling once the price hike kicks in. I don't care that studios are charging them more. They're still making tons of profit and I'm not paying for the increase. There's already a Facebook page with thousands of people who will quit once the price goes up in September. I'm going to start to use red box..

I don't understand. The DVD unlimited, one out at a time is actually dropping in price. Does redbox offer streaming?

This... The biggest beef I have is having to wait 30 days before being able to get new releases.

                              People will be back.

I get the impression that people think Netflix will suffer because of this.

Netflix is increasing prices for those with streaming and one-DVD by about 100%. That would require that 50% of the people with that current deal drop out of Netflix so they break-even before the price increase.

Half of the people? That's not happening. Not even 25% of the people will drop the dual service - that's my assumption.

Im dropping the dvd service for sure

A price hike like this with no extra services provided and no alternatives screams for a downgrade
