    Re: Official Rock music thread

Ahhh, piss! Just learned the drummer of Funeral for a Friend has left the band. He did the dirty vocals on their songs, and was an incredible drummer otherwise. Cited more time with family as his reason for leaving, and it was a good split with the band so that's cool.

The band used a lot more dirty vocals in their last release, so it's interesting what the new album (due out later this year, I think) will sound like.

      Well that's a bummer :/. Sure they'll find a capable replacement though.

I kind of have a problem with people hating on Creed and saying they're almost as bad as Nickelback, and when you listen, Creed actually has a lot of talented instrumentalists and isn't quite as formulaic as Nickelback, IMO. And I also think that a lot of the disrespect they get has to do with the fact that they are as outspoken religiously as they are, which is a terrible reason to dislike a band, IMO, if you don't like a band due to their music, fine, but if you refuse to like them simply based on what they believe and/or stand for (not even just religiously, but politically as well, for instance, I'm not a huge fan of some of the things Rise Against stands for, IMO, they are overly liberal, however they still make really good music). Just my opinion.

The first two Creed cds were pretty good, but after they did fall off a bit. I enjoyed Nickelback until after Silver Side Up and then it felt like their label took over.

I liked the song How You Remind Me the first 5 or so times I heard it, then it got old and ruined Nickelback for me haha

The most recent Nickelback song I liked was Shakin' Hands, not that its a good song, I just find the lyrics hilarious.

I'll give you that... after those first few offerings, they got pretty weak, really the only song I liked off of their last album was Rain. But I'll be honest, I've really been digging the last Alter Bridge album. Good stuff.

Speaking of Alter Bridge, Slash with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirator.

First Single, just a mid tempo rocker, but good to hear Slash w/Kennedy. This solo disc number 2 from Slash in 2 yrs vs Axl, ah, oh, never mind.

                  You're a Lie.

Myles Kennedy should just become the new singer for Velvet Revolver, although he doesn't really sound like Scott Weiland haha

...funny Scott is saying that VR are reuniting, doing a record/tour. Slash is saying no way he'll ever be in a band with him again and that VR is essentially done.

I've only heard Slash's side and he said they got together in LA around New Years to do a show, but he said, I just couldn't shake it, I'm never going through that again.

I'm sure he was referring to Axl and Weiland, fool me once, yada, yada.

Yeah, Slash seems like a no BS kind of guy. I hope his current band can keep it together and improve on their sound. His new disc isn't bad really, just a bit safe. I want something closer to Snakepit.

I thought the same thing after listening to it.

Anastasia is probably my favorite song so far.

Safe I would agree with, but still kicks good old rock and roll on most of the songs.

Here is a funny tweet by Aaron Rodgers.

So, if Nickelback plays This is how you remind me and Someday, will anyone know that there were 2 songs played.

Ba-da-ding. He must be referring to the concert in Milwaukee tomorrow night.
