I was surprised to see them making that little per episode.

I don't find those salaries ridiculous at all. In fact I find those season 6-9 salaries atrociously low for a series that is a comedy award winning hit. (Modern Family)
They sign those deals and they'll be wanting to restructure them in two years.
I bet they end up signing a 3-4 year extension to take them to season 7 or 8. And you will definitely see season 7 or 8 hit the 300K mark per episode.

One report said "it will generate hundreds of millions more from sales to local TV stations and barter advertising coin in those reruns."
Not sure how that works, given that USA paid a hefty fee for the rerun rights.Comment

Yeah, and the money is ridiculous. USA debuts the reruns in the fall of 2013 and they'll pay $1.5 million per episode (currently 72 episodes). In the days of DVRs and online advertising the show still banked $164 million (40% higher than season 2) in ad revenue this past season.

It's possible time slots might vary and other cable channels will be unable to pick up the show.

Modern Family reruns on USA? I wish they'd wait until more episodes existed but sweet!Comment

But if you think thats nuts, consider that syndication rights for 2 Broke Girls have already been sold.
Comedy is a commodity these days.

Re: Modern Family - Season 3
2013.
They have a YouTube video that welcomed Modern Family to the USA Network, using the "picture in a picture" intro with other USA shows (including my favorite, Suits).
The creator of Modern Family said they'll be coming next year, and this video is from the 2012 USA Upfront Event, which took place May 17th, 2012.
Ed Oneill somewhat surprisingly uses the F word in the video so I didn't embed it. Just go to YouTube with USA Network welcome Modern Family.Comment

2 Broke Girls? Really?
I just hope they don't run MF into the ground. Nick @ Nite DESTROYED Fresh Prince for me. Six seasons of episodes is NOT enough to run it for hours a day.Comment

Re: Modern Family - Season 3
Dear lord that is sad. Network TV comedies are truly a sad state of affairs, and the only good ones besides Modern Family are on NBC, so by law about 12 people watch them.Comment

Tell me about it.
They're not without some sex appeal though.

Odds that quotes from 2BG increase rapidly in the workplace.
I know people like the show but the one liners made me want to choke on one of their diner sandwiches. Not even Kat was enough to keep me watching.

Re: Modern Family - Season 3
The show has been on for one season. If it plays once a weeknight, you can basically watch the first season every month like clockwork.
