Go ahead and fill it out.. Ask your Parents to confirm that they know you and they'll be set. I haven't tested if they can use Prime streaming, but I do know they get all the other Prime advantages, such as free shipping.

My brother added me to his Prime account. Two day shipping is awesome, but add-on users don't get the free Prime streaming. Guess you need to be the primary account holder.

No but from what I've seen it's a very simplified device that may not suit her needs. She loves grabbing my iPad and watching shows via the TimeWarner app while she cooks. She wants something to read on the commute to/from work however.

She swears up and down she wants a Kindle. I know the device's limitations and I know she won't be fully happy with it and it will eventually just gather dust.

I could possibly root the device but the hardware is underpowered as it is it's probably not even worth it.

Device is not underpowered. If you're using it for video editing, then yes it is. But if its for browsing the internet, reading books, watching movies/tvs, playing games/apps, this tablet is far more than enough than what she needs.

People look at the price tag and automatically think that the iPad is much more superior to the Fire. I bet my Fire is 10x faster than any iPads out there. Not to mention $300 cheaper.

I hope it suits her needs. That's why I bought it for her (well actually b/c she wants it).

Point is there is no comparable app for playing Cable TV like I mentioned (or slingbox, etc) that I could find on the Fire.

As for the iPad comment - lol OK. I'm confident that's 100% inaccurate but either way this isn't about making this a pissing contest as to what device is "better." Like I said, I just hope it suits her needs and doesn't gather dust as she reaches for my iPad all the time - and not to read. The real question is will it be suitable for her commute. The small size is certainly a benefit.

Before this released she was asking for a Kindle DX so I'm just hoping it's comparable in terms of reading. Magazines look very nice on the device.

I'm sure it is worth it as the development community over at XDA are putting in work on it. I plan to root mine shortly after I break it open this weekend.
