Also LOTR: Rings of Power had 25 million viewers on their 1st day debut. So I think they will be alright.

It's going to depend on the story. Tolkien wrote great stories but this isn't really canon. It's got some known characters but it's really all new. It's going to be hard pressed to tell new stories and get people to care about the characters without it just feeling like a bad knock-off.

I'll wait to until all episodes are out to start watching it.

I really hate not getting all episodes at once to binge. I guess Netflix has spoiled me.

I've heard a lot of criticism around the LOTR show, and I get it after watching the first couple episodes. I found them entertaining though and I'm looking forward to more.

Other shows have done what Rings of Power is doing with the different point of views and branching story lines and were successful. People said the same thing about Deep Space Nine decades ago and it did well. I for one like the different point of views, it paints a more complete picture because like the saying goes, it is always 2 sides to a story.

And many have done it poorly (looking at you Titans). If you have enough time then it isn't a problem to have multiple POVs. Deep Space 9 had the luxury of 20+ episode seasons though, I believe that Rings of Power will have 8. So, an entire episode could be dedicated to 1 branch in DS9 and it would roughly equal 20 minutes of 1 episode in LOTR. That's where my fear is.

The show can definitely succeed thanks to the massive world-wide LOTR fanbase.

Thats twice the audience of HotD, from the numbers I've seen. But Amazon also has 10x the subscriber base, if not more.

I'm just being honest, i'm not feeling Rings of Power just yet. I am not liking any characters at the moment except for Elrond. I'm still gonna keep watching, it is a beautifully shot and I thought the last scene in the 2nd episode got my intrigued for the next one.

As for House of the Dragon, I freaking love this show. Daemon is one crazy mofo and i'm just loving all the moves being setup by all the players playing in the game. I honestly have no complaints and I'm all in on the show.

It's too bad the Rhanera (sp) actress is gonna be replaced when there's a big time jump because I have enjoyed her performance.

First two episodes in Cobra Kai decent enough.

Milly Alcock and Emily Carey have been great as Rhaenyra and Alicent.

So far I have really enjoyed the show. I'm holding my breath on this time jump. My wife is really invested in Rhaneyra's story and disappointed with the time lapse before it even happens.

I also recently started the Fire and Blood audiobook on Audible. I drive about an hour each day total and it doesn't seem that long in comparison to some of the Thrones books.

GRRM needs to stop messing around and finish The Winds of Winter. I mean he's 73 years old and time comes for everyone, many before that age.

I started watching Evil and it was a cute CBS show with edge, then it got more edge, now it's TVMA and it blows my mind how they get away with this on CBS. I really like it, I'm just so accustomed to broadcast TV being so tame, and this show is not tame, maybe it's because I'm watching on paramount+. No way this stuff flies on the standard broadcast

edit: OK apparently I'm just behind and this has become a P+ exclusive and they can do whatever they want. Really good show

Currently watching The Crown, I guess I had the urge to get to know more about Queen Elizabeth II after her death. It’s excellent so far, the acting is top notch by some powerhouse actors.

Matt Smith is becoming one of my favorite actors, he just steals every scene he’s in and Jared Harris is just amazing in everything he touches.

I was very surprised an English show about the Monarchy would hire an American to play a very prominent role in Winston Churchill but John Lifthgow just kills this roll.

Well said. Episodes are too short with too few of episodes to actually develop characters and plot which leads to some quirkiness and being a tad corny. But, it's good enough.

Amazon Prime Video has all 4 seasons of New York Undercover.

Looks like I’ll binge watching that tomorrow night.
