Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

I honestly never knew what I was missing before I got a gaming PC. I've had my rig for a couple of months now and I've barely touched my consoles. Pretty much only to play The Show.

I've got everything from Space Engine, which is a 1:1 universe planetarium, RE3 Remastered. (got it for free with a new GPU I got a month into it lol)

I have MS Flight Sim X, a few indie games, GTA V with mods, Universe Sandbox where you can just make planets collide or just blow up the sun. Some driving game with hyper realistic damage physics. It's like a whole new world of gaming. Oh, and Madden with the College mod. It's great!

I don't have a super high-end system. I went with a system to play games at 1080p ultra or high. Middle of the road Mobo, 16GB ram 256SSD (I'm getting a 500 soon) 1TB HDD, Ryzen 5 2600X, Which I may upgrade soon-ish, but seems to be capable of everything I've thrown at it. And finally, I just upgraded to the RX 5600XT, which is considered, well, advertized, as the ultimate 1080p card, at least on the AMD side.

I was gonna go with the 5700, but I couldn't justify the extra 100+ when I could use it for other stuff. I have a nice 1080p monitor and don't want to spend the money on a 1440p or 4K at this time. This card can handle everything on ultra settings at 1080p. Still giving me great FPS. And it stays super cool. I got the Sapphire edition. I'm so impressed how cool it runs. My old AMD RX 580 ran hot as hell even doing middle of the road tasks.

Anyway, I think I'm set for now with my system and pretty happy with it overall. I can pretty much ran anything I want with no issues.

So glad I finally decided to do this.

Just wait until you wade into the subscription services. Origin Premiere, Xbox Game Pass, Uplay+, Humble Choice... Ridiculous values and tons of games.

Just imagine if MLB The Show comes on PC like it’s being rumored. Check out the NCAA Football forum because they’ve begun modding the game on PC. I’ve had a great time playing the game on PC so far.

Do you guys recommend any gaming pads? KB and mouse combos? Anything else I'm not thinking of?

I use Logitech stuff but honestly there a lot of good brands you can’t go wrong with, where ever you can get a deal I guess or however it feels in your hand is the most important.

I do have the g903 wireless mouse, sick mouse and I used to rock with the classic g502 and they make a wireless version of it now which I loved.

As for game pad, I highly recommend Razers controllers. I have a raiju tournament that works with ps4 and pc but there’s one my buddy has called the wolverine which is pretty much the samething but with interchangeable sticks. Much better than the Xbox elite controller which i used the past two years. The buttons are tactile so nice and clicky and easily mappable buttons with an app.

Already have Origin basic. And Game Pass. I need to look into the others.

Madden feels like a different game on PC. I don't know if it's because of the higher FPS, or something changed in the NCAA mod. It just feels like a better game.

Man, if The Show is on PC, I honestly don't know what games I would buy for console.

And I've been playing the NCAA mod for a while. It's fantastic. Waiting for the new seasons rosters.

Yeah once Madden hit PC, my consoles became Game Pass machines basically (since no PS4 since early in the gen). It's why I value the platform offerings more than franchises / individual games. Game Pass and the EA Vault (NHL) are what get played on my consoles... well, and Fortnite/Roblox when they kids are allowed a go.

Perhaps the most important question. When are those Steam sales typically ran?

Unfortunately Steam sales haven't been much to write home about for a while.

                        Isthereanydeal.com is priceless though.

Summer but they get worse every year to be honest

You may or may not find something but looking around you'll run across some nice sales throughout the year

I couldn't live without mine. Been using one for about 10 years. Even with the nicest, fanciest keyboards, IMO nothing compares to the comfortability of a game pad.

I used the Belkin n52 up until about a month ago and it was an absolute stud. I'd worn the paint off most of the keys,. If the shift key hadn't stopped responding I'd still be using it. They sold their design to Razor a while back and can't quite replicate everything, but it's damn close.

Anyway, I picked this up and have been happy with it.

Should've known by the time my washed *** came upon the scene Steam would be old news. Oh well.

I have a pair of the Sony Golds. Are they pretty solid overall or are there better alternatives out there reasonably priced?

Honestly while steam sales aren’t the best anymore, you can always find great prices on games. Check out G2A and instant-gaming. Keys are a cheap way to get games on steam, just make sure the seller has solid ratings. I’ve been using both for years and never had a single issue.
