...that was more than 15 years ago. lol.

Anyways, I'd be interested in AMD's answer to DLSS. That's been a bigger game changer than the flashier ray tracing, which for even this generation of consoles and cards is a bit of a stretch IMO, a lot of work still to be done in that area.

The announcements today were great for gaming and competition.
That’s the big takeaway for me:

Consumers are the winners here and I think NVIDIA price point will still sell easily because people do trust them as you mention.

AMD has to earn the trust back which I think is why their price undercuts it. Real competition is healthy at every level and much needed so it really is great to see.

Now the wait to see what their supply looks like.

I got an AMD 5700xt a couple of month ago and the card was out for a while. The drivers at the tile were terrible. I heard they fixed them since but that’s the only thing that scares me but I’m sure AMD is trying their best now to make sure the drivers are well optimized. I’ll have a wait and see approach, but $500 difference from the 3090 is huge.

AMD announced they have something called “ Super Resolution” which is their version of Nvidia DLSS

I got a local dude near me selling brand new sealed FE 3090 for 1900

Am trying to get him down to 1700 but no dice

Am tempted to buy it but I really want an Asus Strix 3090

I cannot do AMD cards as I read terrible things about them in the past and even at 1000 for their top card it still does not have 24gbs of VRAM and nobody knows how their Super Resolution will work or will it be as good as the NVDIDA version

            Decisions

Yeah I agree but it’s enough for me to wait and see what those cards can do.

Yup I agree. I want to hear if their driver situation improved and how the cards do. I won’t rule out getting one if everything is good.

                  Well I got a 3090 FE yesterday

The card is beautiful and huge. It is metal and feels so premium

Only issue I must figure out is that I cannot put the screw on the rack as it does not fit. I am thinking of putting the GPU vertically

Running on my 1440p 240hz monitor and games run like this

Madden 21 PC 1440p Ultra with crowds at medium I get 220 to 235 fps with drops when camera pans after plays to about 150

NBA 2K21 on 1440p Ultra everything I get from 190 to 230 fps at all times mostly 200fps

Modern Warfare multiplayer I get 1440p high with no RT at 190 to 225 fps

Tried Star Wars Jedi and that game runs awful as at 1440p with epic settings I get from 90 to 110 fps which I expect much better but it tells me console players should know that if they get 60fps at 4k it would be med settings most likely

Yeah I would put that monster vertically. That’s what’s a couple of buddies are going to do when they get theirs.

I’m curious Gamer in COD/Warzone what settings you would have to do to get 240 fps consistently.

For that game I’m all about maximizing the fps

just tested warzone and at 1440p you must have normal settings for everything and AA at 1x to get between 195 to 205 fps

I suspect you must drop to 1080p to get 240fps

I'm trying to snatch an used 1080, 2060 or 5600 XT for $ 200 or less. Does anyone feel that it could be possible in the next couple months? I was hoping that with the releases of the new Nvidia and AMD cards, that range of cards would decrease its price but I'm not sure if it's going to be possible until the release of a 3060 or an equal from AMD in 2021. I'd really like to get one before the end of the year while I'm trying to upgrade my PC, if not I'll have to keep on waiting for a little more.

As long as the 30 series cards are out of stock it will be hard to get cheap cards

                            I just sold my 2080ti FTW3 that cost 1500 dollars for 650

If the 30 series were in stock I would not get anywhere near what I got

Id like to snag a high end Ryzen 3000 series after the new cpus drop but not holding my breath for a price cut. Not sure I want to buy a cpu used either.

Too much coming out in a short time to think about upgrading right now. i just got my pc (1080ti gigabyte waterforce/i-7700k oc 5 ghz) back after more than.a year stuck in another town and its still doing great. I'm just playing Warzone currently and it looks great to me playing in mostly low settings getting 140-164 fps after playing on my gaming laptop the last year, its a huge difference.

I just need to see how the new AMD processors and NAVI cards work together before deciding. Probably by summer, should be a good time.
