I have the same 3090 and it's a beast. It's paired with a 5950X and it crushes games in 4K. You won't be disappointed.

I really need to put more of an effort into reviewing my purchases so I can try and get invited to that.

I tried the Dell XPS 9520 laptop (15" OLED) but I'm going to return it. It overheats, battery isn't great, and has some unexpected performance issues.

I'll give another similar laptop a shot, the ASUS Zenbook Pro 16x (16" OLED), but I'm having trouble figuring out whether it's available yet or when it comes out if it's not. There are some third-party sites where you can place orders but they show no concrete information, and the ASUS website doesn't have a product page that I can find. Reviews came out for it last month so perhaps it's soon to release, but can anyone find a reputable site where it shows the release date, and/or one that I should probably consider purchasing it from?

Hey guys, not sure if questions are allowed or not. BUT, I was looking to get a gaming PC (whether custom built or not) for around $1500 after taxes. Any recommendations or resources for me to look into?

I would look at www.microcenter.com and consider building one from the parts there or buying one of their prebuilt PCs which are pretty good and have minimal bloatware. They also have the best support of any PC place.

You can use www.partspicker.com to ensure all parts you select will work together.

Hi there...I currently have a GTX 1060 3 GB gpu with an AMD Ryzen 5. I'm looking for a budget upgrade to make things a little prettier (RDR2,etc..).

I found a RTX 2060 6gb on Craigslist for $160. If we're assuming that the card is in good shape, would that be a quality upgrade? I've looked at the benchmarks and it seems to be a pretty good step up and would hold me over for a few years, is that accurate?

                Thank you!

I think the 2060 is a decent option. I have a laptop version of the 2070, so pretty close to the desktop 2060, and I was able to play most modern stuff with optimized settings at 1440p/60.

More importantly, there’s an Asus 2060 that’s 50% off for cyber Monday on Amazon. Only 20$ more than the Craigslist card.

No, I just checked it again and they changed the page to list the 299$ version, but if you scroll down it's still there at 179$ in the 'other sellers' section, and still showing as being sold New by Amazon.com.

Gonna build a new build this upcoming year but I'm gonna wait a bit and see how these AM5 chips test out and see more testing on the new AMD cards before a I commit on this build.

Might take awhile to complete as I'll just get new components every month rather than just get everything in one shot like I did last time.

Pretty set on getting a Lian Li case and fans, just love the look on most of of them.

I've tried windows 11 for the first time and I definitely don't like it.

The amount of things they force on you and how hard it is to do certain things (assuming it's even possible) is crazy.

Even the simplest and most common of things like not having windows grouped together in the taskbar/being able to drag things from one task window to another, that's apparently not possible either?

And the sign in screen stuff is definitely annoying too. I just like going straight in to my account, not having to go through extra steps.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

I've decided to finally pull the trigger on a new pc. I wants to do it last year, but it just didn't make sense with the GPU market. The pricy 40 series of Nvidia cards also put me on the fence, but I have an opportunity to take advantage of a credit card sign up bonus right now.

So here is the build that I'm thinking about, and would love some input/recommendations.

                                Key Notes:
-High performance gaming with some future proofing for 4k gaming and possibly upgrading GPU when the rumored MCM GPUs come out in a couple of years.
-Noise levels and airflow are a priority
                                -No intention of overclocking

                                CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K
                                - I like the idea of the 13th gen Intel series with its increased DDR5 and Thunderbolt support

CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix 75 CFM Liquid CPU Coler
                                - I like Corsair products, and I have had good experiences with their cooling systems

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Xtreme EATX LGA1700
                                - Mobo's are not an area of expertise for me. I would really like to get one with Thunderbolt4/USB4, but there are not many options. Especially not affordable ones.

                                Memory: Corsair Vengeance 64gb DDR5-5200
-5200 speed ram seems to be this generation's optimum

                                Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVME SSD (2x)
                                - I definitely want 4gb of storage. I own a lot of steam games lol

                                Video Card: Asus ROG_Strix-RTX4080
                                - Not a lot of FPS difference among the different 4080 cards that I could find, but the Strix was the quietest and generally one of the least hot ones.

                                Case: Lian Li Lancool III
                                - In some reviews that I saw, it consistently performed the quietest and coolest (top 2 or 3 in each category)

                                Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x
                                - I want to go fully modular. 1000w seems to be the recommended value for a system with a 4080. Part of me would like to go higher in case I upgrade GPUs in a couple of years.

                                Total build price ~4300
