    The Newsroom (HBO)

Anyone watch tonight. I like how fast paced it was. Couldn't keep my eyes off what was going on.

    Spoiler

Had me until Hanoi Jane showed up on the scene.... unless they make her look like a total ***, though this is HBO, so I doubt that's gonna happen.

I thought it was great! Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer did great in their scenes. HBO never lets me down, another great show (hopefully but definitely promising) to add to the list.

Makes me want to start re-watching West Wing again. First episode of Newsroom reminded me so much of the West Wing pilot as the cast is introduced mid-crisis but yet so perfectly and clearly without getting in the way of the story being told.

No excuse not to give it a shot, HBO has put the first episode on Youtube

Have this DVR'ed from last night. I've been hearing many mixed reviews about the show. Not surprised since this is a Sorkin project. Plan on giving this a watch sometime later in the week.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not left leaning like I thought it might be. It's being added to the dvr for sure.

Sports Night meets West Wing. And that's not a bad thing. Hell he's using the same stories from Sports Night it seems

Apparently some inaccuracies in the statistics with McAvoy's (Jeff Daniels) initial rant. It'll be interesting to see the path this takes considering who is the creator.

                            Re: The Newsroom (HBO)

Overall, it was pretty good. I don't like Sorkin, so it's saying something that I'm gonna continue to watch this show.

However, there were a few things that really bugged me. And I'll preface this by saying: I work at a tv station, so there's a reason these things bug me. The major thing, there is NO WAY you'd ever go into a show without SOMETHING in the prompter, it just won't happen. You could have a bunch of things in there and then choose to do the breaking news story. I understand why it was done for storyline purposes, but it just would neve happen.

A few things made me laugh (cause its a tv station), specifically the "only the EP knows what we're doing next"......we have one of those types at my station, and it can get interesting during breaking news, haha.

Apparently I need to watch them then. I thought the pilot for this was great. The middle was a little bit of a slow-burn, but holy crap the beginning and ending of the show was balls to the wall. I wonder if they'll eventually "catch up" to current events. It felt like a eulogy at the funeral for old school news and a bit painful in that regard. I don't watch the news much anymore for reasons that this show seems to address.
