Good episode last night. Clearly the ending saved it.

The first 40 minutes was rough to get through for me. Sorkin needs to sort out this doe-eyed female character **** and cut out the rom-com tactics and keep the intellectual parts consistent with the rest of the show. Honestly, it feels like I'm watching two different shows at some points.

The "climax" felt half-baked to me. Good closing, but nothing really happened outside of the last 10 minutes.

Such a good ending. I think people are too hard on this show because of Sorkin's credentials. I almost feel like it would be getting great reviews if his name wasn't attached to it.

I've seen every episode of Sports Night and watched very little West Wing. I see parallels between SN and The Newsroom, but I can still enjoy it what it is... quality television.

That build up and usage of the crescendo of Coldplay's "Fix You" was beautiful. I literally had chills when it was all over. Great television.

I'm not familiar with Sorkin's other work like others here are, but the big things that stick out to me like sore thumbs are how quickly the female characters become slap-stick and ditzy comedic escapes and how little character development the show has had. Outside of the newsroom staff, I love the show. Some of the performances have been great. The "hindsight" news angle is very interesting to me and while Sorkin does come off as preachy/heavy handed in his speechifying, I think he's hitting the right marks on everything except the characters.

Just wait for the episode about bin Laden's death, they will all get called in on a Sunday, cause there was nothing going on that day. That day turned crazy in about 30 minutes, and I look forward to seeing it on-screen.

I LOVED Will's line to Nina about "day-side vs prime-time" people, we have the exact same "rivalry" at my station.

I'm really enjoying this show so far. I don't really watch HBO, but this one has kinda gripped me. There's some really funny parts mixed in with the political/media angle that I find interesting.

And I love the old dude from Law & Order.

                    Re: The Newsroom (HBO)

This is the best new show I've seen on TV this year.

I actually like the Rom-Com stuff especially with their own version of Jim/Pam/Roy. I can't believe Jeff Daniels is almost 60. I like the whole cast. Emily Mortimer has a milfish vibe.

The critics were wrong about the Newsroom. Most said Episode 4 was the worst (the critics got the first 4 episodes in advance) and I thought it was the best episode of the season up to this point.

The snappy dialogue is on point. I feel like this show caters to a more sophisticated intellectual audience.

That was awesome ending but brought up bad memories again. This show is on point and HBO hit another homerun.

I live in Tucson, so the ending was very near and dear to me. They got it exactly right, nobody knew what was happening, and the radio stations were all trying to break the story. I was in my car when it happened, and by the time I got home, she had been shot, pronounced dead, alive, then dead again, and alive again. And I am also eagerly awaiting the Bin Laden episode, gonna be a doozy.

I don't get the whole big foot stuff, it just came out of nowhere and they ran the joke into the ground by the end of the episode.

Not really much to get, it was just a plot device.

It was a pretty stupid *** plot device. I'm sure they could've come up with a better way to get them in the office on a saturday morning. It just didn't make sense that all of a sudden that guy would start talking about Big Foot, then keep bringing it up over and over again, to the point where he called people in on their day off to show a presentation about it.
