Gotta say, I absolutely loved Interstellar. One of the best movie-going experiences I've had in quite some time, and I didn't even see it in Imax. Can't wait to watch again.

Saw it today. I liked it, but must admit I was not blown away by it. TWO HUGE plot issues I have with the story that I have a hard time reconciling.

1) Coop lived a day's drive from the NASA place that they found the coordinates for. NOBODY went to go find him, though they say he's THE BEST guy to pilot the craft. But then they say that they have "another guy" who could pilot it but that Coop is the best. Why in the world would they not send someone to find him on the farm he's at when he already knows the professor as soon as he walks in the room? HUGE issue that I think really sets the plot back a bit.

2) Murph deeply loves her dad. She's torn up so much over him leaving that she won't speak to him. It's her anger that comes from her deep love in that she feels she will never see her father again. SO: Coop gets back. He's told that his daughter is in such poor health that it will take TWO WEEKS for her to get to see him. So she's all broken up over this and emotionally destroyed over her broken relationship with her dad. So Coop walks in the room to see her in the hospital, and they have what---a 30 SECOND conversation where she then tells him to get the heck out of the room??? Sorry, but that was kind of stupid. Just because she has her kids in the room, suddenly now she (who also devoted her whole life to this project) want's nothing to do with him in the most critical moment of her life? Yeah, I get the whole "parents shouldn't bury their kids" - but come on, Nolan really blew it there. All of the emotion seemed wasted in that moment.

Maybe I'm being a bit too critical, but those 2 issues seem a bit odd to me in a movie that is so well thought out...

I remember when people talked of the time when going to the movies was an experience. This, people, is a movie going experience. You don't wait to watch it at home, you must experience it in the movie house. IMAX, preferably.

Absolutely superb. It's not a mind-**** as most people associate Nolan movies with, but it's dirty sci-fi (i.e. realistic for the regular viewer, but not the scientists who know this ****). It's dramatic, it's a feast for the eyes. I was enthralled throughout it's whole run-time.

The only gripe I have with it is

when Cooper goes into the black hole. It is, for me, a bit hokey considering the rules that have been set in the movie and he's stuck in a dimension that can only communicate with Murph's bedroom. It's a part of the movie that would fit in very well in a comic book, but that's not the film we've been watching for 2 hours. I suspended my disbelief and accepted it, but I think its execution could've been different to be more SCI than FI. Granted, no one knows what it's like to be in the 4th, 5th, whatever dimension or what it's like to be inside a black hole, but I just think Nolan veered away from what's been established during the course of the movie, which creates this jarring effect on the viewer.

Still, 10/10. Let the scientists rage, rage, rage into the night.

wherein we see Cooper and Brand reunite in Edmund's planet and start a colony the old fashioned way. Part of me wanted the movie to go on 'cause I couldn't stand my girl Hathaway being by her lonesome.

Kip Thorne was an executive producer for this, and the only thing he had a struggle with accepting were the ice clouds. In fact, he wrote two more scientific papers based on this film and the way things were rendered.

The fact is, nobody knows what's in a black hole or on its even horizon. His interpretation is as good as anyone else's. Fifth dimensional beings, however, very much occupy this kind of transcendence. At least from every article I've ever read about it. It fit, but a Texan like McConaughey being very "grounded" for so long and going into this part does mark a bit of inconsistency with flow and expectations. With that, I agree.

Still, 10/10. Let the scientists rage, rage, rage into the night.

I forget, was Cooper shown there yet? Because if he didn't, he as a long way to go until he finds her. That wormhole is gone now. Hopefully he gets to her!

I saw it in IMAXand didn't have issue with the mix. Our issue was one of the rear speakers sounded like it was blown. So whenever it was in use it just crackled... Hopefully they get the issues corrected and go an extra mile on the blu ray release.

Hard to say. Since it was fifth dimensional beings, it would have had to be somebody who transcended there once before, but if they did that they probably would have already solved the unified field theory that the Cooper's made happen, which means they wouldn't be in the rut they're in now.

There must be some existential forces beyond them who initiated the process, or so it seems. The original screenplay had alien life-forms and I believe they created the wormhole, so although that wasn't shown on film that's not to say those can't be canonized into this thought.

I still have to see this film again, but would love to continue discussing things along the way until it's mostly cracked so I know what to look for to fill in the gaps.

I just got back from seeing this in IMAX. It was really good. The best movie I've seen since Inception, IMO. Bravo. I'll probably have more to say later.

I went into this movie with really high expectations, which usually isn't good, but it lived up to the hype. I can see why some people may have not liked the movie as it kind of required a requisite knowledge of some of the subject matter, though.

One thing I will commend the film on is not using sound in space. I always hate that. It totally kills the realism.

I think that's open to question, kind of like 2001: A Space Odyssey. Who put the monolith there? No one knows.

I suppose it could have been humanity's descendants. Or another alien life form. It's hard to say. I was thinking it could be that the colony succeeded, but everyone on Earth died. So, the descendants of the colony decided to try to save Earth. That's just a theory and I'm sure it's filled with holes, though.

I appreciated that they didn't bring aliens into the mix directly, just like 2001 did.
