Yeah, this has been what's confusing/worrying me. I haven't actually read through any reviews because obviously I want to know as little as possible (all those TV spots aren't helping), but when you go to sites like IGN or reddit, you see headlines that say something along the lines of it's not as good as it could be or whatnot.

I do remember the reviews for ASM1 not being that great though and I loved that movie so it's not like I'm going to be hard to please. So long as they don't do anything stupid that takes them into Spider-Man 3 territory, I can't see myself being disappointed. But I guess I'll have my answer on Friday.

EDIT: It's at 58% right now.

    Looking at past Spider-Man movies...

    Spider-Man - 89%
    Spider-Man 2 - 94%
    Spider-Man 3 - 63%

    The Amazing Spider-Man - 73%

I wish RT could go back and "Re-Rate" those first two Spiderman movies. They have not held up well at all.

I can't remember the last time I've watched them but it can't be that bad.

Tried watching Spidey-1 on Netflix and couldn't get through it. Tobey annoys me, Kirsten Dunst is just terrible and was a horrible, horrible choice. Willem Dafoe is the only part that held up - he's awesome.

Spider-Man 1 is on Netflix and it is bad er doesn't hold up well. Very campy now, and by comparison I find Toby Maguire to be like Gomer Pyle compared to Garfield's Parker.

Edit: Agree with Beantown though that Dafoe is still awesome.

Spidey 2 is still great to me.

I think 2-3 years before ASM released would have benefited the scores more. I think the quality of the movie was brought down by the closeness of series and particularly how closely the first movies were in terms of origin.

As someone that is obsessed with Spider-man, I can't wait till tomorrow and don't care what critics say. Loved the 1st one.

As far the the last 3, absolutely hated the 3rd while always thought 1st and 2nd were average at best.

Question is, to work tomorrow for casual day do I wear one of my Spider-man shirts or my Venom.

Yeah, they are pretty bad. The only person who was perfect for his role was JK Simmons.

DaFoe was good. He fit with the over-the-top camp that is associated with the series and Raimi in general.

                        JK was the best, though.

And Bruce Campbell. Because, well, Bruce Campbell.

The first Spider-Man movie is vastly, vastly overrated. I don't even really like it.

Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite films of all time. I think it holds up just fine. Spider-Man 2.1 I could easily do without, though there is one added scene in there that I wish was in SM2 (with MJ and her friend shopping or whatever). I thought characters just played their roles so well in this one, especially Aunt May and Dr. Octavius (weird monologues with the claws "talking" to him though).

Before Marvel's current MO of kicking ***, and before the Dark Knight Trilogy, Spider-Man 2 was my favorite superhero movie. And a fun freaking game on PS2.

Spiderman 2 was my favorite also and I liked the first one.

I really found The Amazing Spiderman kind of boring but I'm really looking forward to this one!
