Jut came home from seeing it. Sorry, didn't like it all.
Kinda felt like a love story, too much slow motion and the credit scene was way out of place. Like they stuck it in there at the last minute to keep Marvel heads in their seats longer.Comment

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
SpoilerIt's pretty clear that Avi Arad, the other dude producing this, and Sony looked at what Feige did and, instead of being patient like Feige, they wanted to immediately jump into an expanded universe. I don't even know why Electro was in the movie; he was barely in it and this would've been amazing had they just focused on Peter, Gwen, and Harry.
Speaking of Harry, they really rushed his transformation to the goblin and it didn't make any sense. His dad lived for a long time before the disease caught up with him but Harry went from having a symptom of the onset of the disease to having all those scars out of nowhere. There could have been an entire movie about Harry's desperate search for a cure and the deterioration of his relationship with Peter but they just skipped to the end for no reason.
You could just see "executive decisions" all over the place and it's really irritating because all the main characters and the director are great but all this meddling just because Arad wants that Marvel Studios money is hurting the stories that they're trying to tell. I still love Garfield as Peter, Dane Dehaan was great, and Emma Stone did a great job, which makes everything even more disappointing cause it's not like the Raimi movies where it seemed like there were casting issues. Even though I think everyone outside the producers are perfect, this makes me want the movie to not make any money so that Sony gives up and lets the rights revert back to Marvel (I know that's not gonna happen).
I've been annoyed with critics bringing up Spider-Man 3 every time they see what they think are too many characters but that criticism was actually appropriate this time, and it's crazy cause Arad made pretty much exactly the same mistake he made with Spider-Man 3; it's like he didn't learn a single lesson from ****ing up the last time.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Just got home from it. I like it a lot.
SpoilerIt did have a huge focus on the love story between Peter and Gwen, but I didn't mind it that much. I'm content with her dying. But I would have like to see her actually die in Goblin's hands. Speaking of Goblin, AWESOME. I am a little disappointed that Norman Osbourn didn't play the Goblin at all, but I was a huge fan of Harry in this movie. Had so much charisma, incredible casting for him. Max Dillon was awesome, I love how when he turned into Electro he still kept the sensitive "I need you" part to him, showed some vulnerability, I enjoyed that character as well. Love seeing the Sinister Six around. Excited to see where they go with this story. Good action, just hate how often they used slow mo in mid action. Good story overall, thoroughly enjoed it. Don't mind Gwen dying, as now MJ is all but confirmed for ASM3, which I'm intrigued to see.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

I want to possibly see this tomorrow. It's strange that the RT consensus changed. I think this will definitely be this year's Man of Steel. Expect a lot of debates among the divided fanbases.Comment

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
I don't have issues with the story arc but I can see why people have issues with it.
Can't deny the action in the last part of the movie, holy cow. It's also gotta be the most artistic comic book movie I seen, it was beautifully shot. Can't wait to see it again on an Imax screen.

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Movie looked cool as hell, but they totally sacrificed Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the sake of putting villains in for no real reason at all other than to "set-up" the Sinister Six movie. Seriously guys, did you not learn from Spider-Man 3? I came out feeling like I watched an improved version of that movie.
Electro could've been the sympathetic villain, but then he simply decides that he hates Spidey 'cos he got tricked. The Lizard was sympathetic to a point; the execution here is off. Rhino? Thanks for showing up. Harry Osborn could've been really good, but everything just feels too rushed for it to have any real impact.
Then there'sSpoilerGwen Stacy's death. Which comic book fans anticipated coming in this movie or the next. I really like the execution and felt sad about it (Emma Stone!!!!) but again, the impact was lessened because Harry is suddenly the Goblin and they fight and there's just no real heft to that relationship. Now if they saved Harry becoming the Goblin 'till 3, then the infamous "What will Spider-Man do?!?" scenario pops-up? Heartbreak city.
Here it's just him holding onto Gwen & sticking his foot in the gear so that Harry doesn't choke as well -- or that's what it looked like anyway -- and then the web is cut and you know the rest. End-result is still emotional, but it could've been so much more.
Great special effects. Cool movie. Lousy story.Comment

Great special effects. Cool movie. Lousy story.SpoilerGwen's death was one of the best scenes in the movie but it's annoying because they could've waited and gotten another movie out of Emma Stone, plus have the death make even more of an impact since we would get to see the relationship between the three of them build up. They just threw Harry in there and before we got to really know him, he's losing his mind and becoming evil. I just don't get what the rush is with Arad and Sony.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Saw it in 3D. First off, the 3D was fine but definitely not a must have.
The movie itself I liked, though it gave me similar feelings that I had in SM 3. Too much story line and too much love. There were plenty of well choreographed action scenes though.Comment

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Movie exceeded my expectations.
IMO this movie and Spiderman 3 shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence...as a comic fan, the movie was so....'Spiderman' to me....and I loved the way the movie looked. Jamie Foxx even held his own and I wasn't expecting that at all....Comment

Too much love? I'd say the opposite! What this movie suffers from is villain introduction.Comment

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Saw it last night in 2D; didn't like the movie much at all. I'd say it's the worst of all the Spiderman movies. It seemed a lot like Spiderman 3 with the overabundance of villains but I thought the Sandman/Venom/Harry Osborne Green Goblin but at least with that movie everyone was better developed. Some of the stuff this one did was cringe-worthy for me; never reached Batman and Robin level corny but it skirted it some. The first Amazing Spiderman was far better imo. In this one they tried to cram too many villains; two in an unbelievably short period of time.
The girlfriend surprisingly liked it although she admitted it didn't come close to any of the Avengers movies. Guess my seeing Captain America a few weeks ago didn't help either. I'm a big Spiderman fan and this was pretty disappointing. I did think they did a mostly great job with the Peter Parker/Gwen Stacy relationship though.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
