Re: 2013 Academy Awards Predictions and Discussion

Hmm, interesting. I never knew these were thrown out there before. Some are really that one-sided, huh?

Maybe I should see Argo. Will this be the first time (hypothetically, going off the predictions alone) that a Best Picture doesn't get any other nods to director, actor(s), or screenplay?

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't see adapted screenplay there.

This is a spoof of Hathaway's song. It describe how badly Hathaway wants an Oscar. She has been criticized on the blogosphere about being too earnest and rehearsed in her other acceptance speechless for this role.

It also had a supporting Actor nomine, although it shouldn't have Arkin wasn't that good. Affleck got screwed over so bad though.

I'm surprised by the one-sidedness of Argo being predicted to win Best Picture. Perhaps there's a feeling that Affleck got so screwed over that he should win the Best Picture at least.

Anywho, apparently Shirley Bassey has been booked to sing one of her Bond songs during the Bond tribute segment.

I'm actually most interested in seeing Seth MacFarlane tomorrow.

Not me. I have a feeling his performance might be cringeworthy. I'm not sure he can cut it. That's not a knock on him, it's just many people cannot pull it off.

They did over 20 takes for Anne's song, and ended up using take 4. For anyone in the industry, you know that means that they kept trying, and eventually just settled. When they get the good take, they shoot one or two more to be safe, and call it a day.

What, they settled on a probable academy award performance?

If they really did 20 extra takes, then yes. You don't shoot that much unless you're looking for improvement.

I still think Sally Field deserves it.

I only saw Field, Hathaway and Weaver.

Of the 3 I preferred Hathaway. You thought the song needed a great singer, I saw the song performed by a great actress.

Even the actress that created that spoof a few posts above, admitted weeping through Hathaway's song.

It can either be a very popular performance by him from the fans' perspective or end up being another David Letterman type failure.

I might've confused it with the Emmys but there you go.

Um....Interesting start to the show so far.
