    I find this adorable.

But I just generally find her to be adorable.

    So...

Well this pretty much cinches Lincoln is the Best Picture. I mean, why else would Michelle Obama be helping out with that.

EDIT: Well at least Affleck got some measure of revenge.

I love how my home town movie theater chose to show a Razzie winner over many, if not all, best picture nominated movies. That's the Forum Theater for you.

Just quoting you because you said the joke, but this isn't directed at you...

I let out an "Oooh," but I was laughing. It's a funny joke. There are worse ones out there.

After all, this is Seth MacFarlane we're talking about. He also did this on FG:

              <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yTSvnvNCUbE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'd say with him, you have to "just go with it," forgive it as a harmless joke and move on. He caters toward a crowd that truly requires desensitization.

EDIT: Actually that YouTube video is a bit ironic, because Seth cracked about how DDL was in character for so long that he wouldn't recognize a cell phone if he saw one.

Overall, went as expected. Didn't think MacFarlane did too bad. The bit with Shatner was meh, but that's my only real complaint. No real surprises for the winners except for the tie. May not agree with all of them, but who does?

Yeah the show was not bad, I give kudos to MacFarlane for keeping his jokes more or less "acceptable". I did chuckle when Christopher Plummer muttered about MacFarlane picking on someone his own size unless I misinterpreted that than um n/m

Life of Pi really got quite a lot of love tonight. It almost seemed like Lincoln got squeezed out a bit because of the political kerfluffle what with Argo and Affleck looking like it/he was getting screwed.

Seth was alright. Good to see Bond get some love from the Academy. Too bad they didn't have a Bond reunion.

Not trying to dwell or be a jerk, but Two questions for you Chilli:

                      (1) When isn't that joke inappropriate? You thought it WAS appropriate because the Lincoln movie had some nominations?

                      (2) Appropriateness aside, you really laughed? That's the type of joke you ask, "How long did it take you to come up with that one?". As lame as it was classless.

I enjoy a good Lincoln assassination joke myself. There, I said it.

Honestly, I agree with Seth. Is 150 years not long enough? Are we as a nation still grieving this?

Anyone else puzzled by all the love Argo has received? I felt the movie was above average. Nothing more.

I figured the Chris Brown/Rihanna "date night" joke would stir more hoopla than the Lincoln assassination joke, and I laughed at both. For those who aren't aware (I'm saying that seriously, because some people aren't), Seth isn't intentionally hurtful but will do what is necessary to make a crowd laugh at the expense of somebody else's [potential] pain, all depending on how sensitive they are to it.

Like that Family Guy Christmas episode...

Brian (to Peter): Who the hell buys a novelty fire extinguisher?
Peter: I'll tell you who. Someone who cares enough about physical comedy to put his whole family at risk.

I think the important thing to take home is that Seth makes fun of all kinds: all races, all religions, all political types, all ages, all orientations, all celebrities, and all economic classes. He even makes 9/11 cracks and he had a ticket for one of the hijacked flights, so in a way he is "making fun of himself," or that which could instill fear in his mind. If he targeted the same thing every time, I could see your point. But a hilarious joke is hilarious, tasteless or not. If it makes you laugh, I don't see what the problem is.

Anyway, as far as the rest of the show, it was interesting to see Life of Pi get so much love. I'll surely look into seeing it. The five minute short of it that I saw before Prometheus didn't quite attract me, so we'll see. I was hoping Skyfall would win cinematography, but didn't care for anything else it would have won/did win. I was also amazed at them capturing Ted. I don't know how they did it (I know Ted wasn't actually there and they watched it on a screen, but if they did it live with Wahlberg there and MacFarlane voicing over instead of playing back something, that's incredible!), but I thought that was genius work getting that in. I wish the lines between them were better though.

Shatner bit was a bit too long, and credits song made sure people quickly changed the channel for the most part, but overall liked it. McFarlane did pretty well IMO.

Saw the Booth joke coming, wife and I both groan-laughed. No problem with it though, just his type of humor and he stayed fairly tame much of the night.
