I thought it was supposed to be intentionally obvious that the whole song was pre-recorded, especially if you saw Jennifer Lawrence's expression as the camera cut to her. It was an entire shtick brought on with future Shatner warning Seth what happened when he sang this song. So it didn't happen "live," and these actresses had these "expressions" pre-recorded.

In fact, they're wearing different outfits than they were wearing that night. In any case, I thought it was supposed to be that obvious, but I guess it wasn't completely caught on.

I've seen commentators miss that it was prerecorded too.

Wow..... really? I can now totally lapse into my "now I really don't give a **** about the whole thing" attitude.

I'm so glad I don't watch this crap.

The giveaway was that nobody was wearing what they were wearing that evening.

Personally, I thought the song was sophomoric. It didn't offend me. It was just stupid.

Tina and Amy would be a lot funnier at your funeral then Seth. Not as offensive, but a lot more fun.

The nature of them. The Kennedy assassination has, obviously, been a subject that has garnered a lot of discussion over the years due to the conspiracies surrounding it. We've become numb to it to a great degree. We also have come to accept that there is inherent risk in being President. That's why we have the secret service. Martin Luther King is also probably more revered by our society than anyone else in our country's history short of maybe George Washington.

Disagree as many have different people who they revere etc..
and think MLK is fair game joke wise if JFK etc is fair game. I'm no more numb to JFK's death as I am with MLK's.
The fact any jokes are made by any tragic deaths show society as a whole has become numb to death and not the people IMO...

All this over a Lincoln joke? Are we still grieving?

Still grieving and just finding the joke banal, tasteless, and unnecessary are two different things KK.

Well I wouldn't watch late night talk shows, then. Or SNL. Or pretty much any comedy show at all. Because that type of joke is all over those things (the Chris Brown joke too).

You can still watch all that stuff and choose to like whatever. I didn't turn off the TV after Seth made the Lincoln joke.

There really is no reason for the uproar. I guess it was the Academy Awards so I shouldn't be expecting much room for humor.
