Count me in as one of the ones who doesn't read into reviews and critics at all. I couldn't care less really. If I want to watch something I will and if I don't I won't. I like to keep things simple. An example would be the new Mad Max. It has phenomenal reviews and RT scores but it just doesn't sound interesting to me so I probably won't ever watch it. I just like to watch things that appeal to me. But I do like talking about movies with others after just to get different views and ideas I may have missed. People constantly complaining gets old but we don't have much of that here on OS which is refreshing.

I watched Mad Max based on the reviews and didn't feel the same way.
Wasn't a bad movie by any stretch, but I'll never watch it again. Some of my friends and co-workers made it seemed like it would cure cancer with it's cinematic magic.
It's a simple chase movie with some good acting and decent action.

I enjoyed it, I mean it's a movie that has its issues at times but as a fan of superhero movies I got my entertainment. I've never been into comics but I've always been a big DC fan since growing up with all the animated cartoons in the late 90s and early 2000s. I would have definitely cut a few things to make the movie flow better. This Batman was to me the best one so far. Wonder Woman was a nice surprise as I just didn't know what to think about her going in, but I'm really excited for her solo movie.

I thought the fight scenes in the 3rd act of the movie were great, definitely a lot better then the mindless destruction that was in MoS.

Saw it earlier today & really enjoyed it. Had a funtime & everyone that was at my cinema seemed to enjoy it alot as well. Is it perfect no but it's far from being a terrible film. Story was simple to follow not confusing at all. Sure they may have rushed introducing the other heroes but that didn't bother me as there will be solo films no doubt. Speaking of which makes me excited to see the Wonder Women film.

Just saw it, knowing all the negative reviews, waiting for the moment for it to be "ah ****, they messed up." Never came and now I'm wondering what movie all these critics watched. Gut rating, I'd give it an 8/10.

So, what's lacking (for me)?

1. Pacing & Story

I totally did not mind the slow burn of the first hour. I enjoyed getting to know these people. However, Bruce's dreams, especially for anyone not familiar with DC Comics, is hard to understand. The most confusing would probably be the Knightmare Batman with the Parademons, Darkseid's symbol, the nod to Regime Superman (Injustice style). Take it out of the movie and the plot wouldn't be hurt one bit. It heightens Bruce's paranoia of Superman and why he would want to take him down, but it just shows how Batman is the "bad guy" in this whole situation. Acting on nothing but his own fear. The Flash's cameo was cool though. All of the Justice League cameos/setup -- bar Diana Prince/Wonder Woman -- would've fit well in an after-credits scene (if DC did them) or a short-film for the Blu-ray and the movie's story would flow much better. Again, really cool, but I understand why people would say it's bloated.

The whole first hour is basically Lex setting the big fight up, but as much as I enjoyed the big fight, I'm still not quite sure what set Batman off the edge. Lex played him, yes, but was it the Joker style letters? The fact that Superman was at the senate hearing when it blew up and that Wally character (formerly working for Wayne Enterprises) was killed (along with all the innocent people)? Next thing you know Bruce is training for the fight of his life but there's still no concrete reason for him to go after Superman. It's all paranoia that he created for himself with a little prodding from Lex.

If WB weren't trying to get to Justice League so quickly, Superman V Lex Luthor would've made for a great movie. Batman V Superman minus Lex Luthor would've made for a great movie. What we get, in my opinion, is a good movie with ingredients for a great movie. Focusing on either one would've been great, but expanding the universe took precedence and the movie is hurt by it.

2. Batman's rule

This guy has no problem with guns. I thought this was the most accurate Batman we've ever had and I thoroughly enjoyed it except for his seeming lack of problem with using guns. Yes, this is a more jaded Batman who uses extreme tactics, but for all the screen time that Bruce gets, the audience is left to deduce that he's extreme because of what happened to Robin. Something not everyone will get.

3. Lex

No, I wasn't annoyed. His motivation is just thin. If this was a Lex with history with Superman, his motivation makes TOTAL SENSE and is classic Lex Luthor. Intelligent human is annoyed that a god like being has all this power and wants to bring him down for the good of humanity. In the movie though, Superman isn't shown to overshadow Lex's achievements nor does Superman cause any damage to Lex/his business -- something we've seen in the comics many times over which causes Lex to hate Superman. Since there's no history between them, Lex's motivation to be a villain is left wanting. Give him Bruce's reason to dislike Superman but with a more villainous twist and his character improves ten-fold.

I was pleasantly surprised he knew BOTH Superman and Batman's identities though. Yay, intelligent Luthor. I'm hopeful he'll be a better villain when he's the main bad guy.

As for what I enjoyed, well, holy crap were the fights GOOD. I usually have a keen eye for CGI fights and when they look obviously fake, but not once was I taken out of the movie because something was glaringly CGI. The overall story was pretty good bar the reasons mentioned above, and I felt the side-characters each had a purpose. I read about Lois just being shoe-horned in for the sake of having her around but I felt that she was quite pivotal to the overall arch of the movie.

Superman

still has a ways to go to become that paragon of truth, justice (and the American way) but he's getting there. Flying Doomsday into space, beating him further, then hugging him to ensure the nuke hits Doomsday with no regard for his own survival? That's Superman to me. I totally wasn't expecting they would delve into the Death of Superman and I still felt a bit emotional knowing he'll come back eventually. He's learning to be that guy Jor-El said everyone would join into the sun, and Cavill did a fine job.

holy **** I cannot go back from this kind of Batman ever again. Guns aside, THIS is how Batman should fight. Clinically brutal, quick, using all his gadgets, and showing he's pretty damn strong too. This is the comic book Batman come alive and man was it great to see. Ben Affleck, don't let the reviews bring you down, because I cannot WAIT to see what you bring to a solo Batman movie.

Wonder Woman was an amazing tease. Her music gets you pumped, Gal Gadot fits the part

and seeing her enjoying while fighting Doomsday was . There's a certain gracefulness to her strength, the way she "flies" and her fighting style. It's a treat to behold and my excitement for her solo movie has increased.

Zack Snyder, after Justice League Part 1, has to give way though. He has, hopefully (bad critic reviews aside), really started this universe but it's time future Superman & JL movies find a different voice. The DCCU still lacks certain character moments that, perhaps, another director would be able to bring out. They should definitely keep the DOP though, 'cause man is the film beautiful to look at. I'm excited to see this again in IMAX.

TL;DR : this is the furthest thing from a crap superhero movie or movie in general.

Caught a matinee this afternoon. I had low expectations, but it was better than I expected. Wasn't perfect by any means, but I enjoyed it. It definitely needed better editing.

For all the angst about Affleck when he was cast, I thought he carried the movie. I really like him as Wayne/Batman. The jury is still out for me on Gadot as WW.

I thought she was solid but she didn't really get to do much. I'm also glad that they kept Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg to a minimum this time.

Eisenberg didn't annoy me as much as I thought he would.

I think they would have better served saving Doomsday for a later movie, and keeping this about Batman vs. Superman. After all the angst Batman has about Superman - and to a degree, vice versa - it was kind of lame to me how quickly they put their differences aside.

The guy who played the Russian, didn't he also play one of the corrupt SHIELD soldiers in Winter Soldier?

That's a little misleading, since it also combines with the Thursday pre-screening showings. Plus, it has opened worldwide everywhere at the same time (no later releases in any other countries).

Still not unimpressive at all, but it is opening weekend. We'll see what legs it ends up having a few weeks from now if word of mouth is bad.

Not saying the word of mouth is bad, audiences are actually enjoying it... but it's still not the epic I had expected/hoped, and while it should be surpassing the billion dollar mark worldwide, anything less than that would also be pretty disappointing.
