    Re: Suicide Squad (2016?)

Dude, wow. I really like this move. Just walked out.

I need to scroll back a few pages and get caught up on all spoiler discussion before I dig deep but my first take coming right out the theater is this movie is a lot of fun and I really don't have many issues at all. It seems sloppily edited in a few spots, and some of the song choices are cringeworthy, but other than that I thought it was a really good time and adds to the DCU in a great way moving forward. I wouldn't mind never hearing Seven Nation Army in a movie again. Bohemian Rhapsody fit well with it's scene though.

Not sure what the critics were looking for in a movie that has characters named Killer Croc and Captain Boomerang. I guess if you watched this in an art class at film school you could break it down and destroy it but I don't think this movie was trying to change your life, it is just trying to entertain you. And I was entertained.

Really loved the acting. Waller, Deadshot, and Harley are FANTASTIC. Joker is OKAY, didn't see enough to call him great but saw enough to know he isn't a disaster. Everyone else, all the supporting characters, were at least solid and some were very solid. Enjoyed Croc and Boomerang quite a bit.

Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie are two of the most attractive women on the planet IMO so that definitely doesn't hurt.

I believed in the characters motives and personalities, I felt their chemistry was genuine. Really well acted movie, IMO. I cared about the squad

Can't wait to see what the future holds in the DCU!

The couple cameos were nice too

7.5 out of 10, will watch again.

I think this is a good comic book movie and worth seeing.

    Edit

I cant say much about the directing and editing and all that jazz but this cast is great. I really bought into them. I think they got gold here with this cast and hopefully can cash in on them with future films

Break-even/profitiability rule of thumb for a major motion picture is typically double the costs, and WB doesn't get 100% of the ticket sales, which is where the higher number comes from. So the figures we do know, $175m and $100m for marketing we're already at $550m.

A theater keeps 20-25% of box office receipts, so 80% of a $750m movie would be $600m to the studio, in theory.

I'm absolutely shocked so many of you really liked this movie as much as you guys sound like you do.

Just goes to show how different we all are. Lol

            Re: Suicide Squad (2016?)

I have a question that has nothing to do with this movie but more of a DCU/Murderverse Going Forward question

Do you think we will ever get a full on Knightfall/Knightquest/KnightsEnd movie series? I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Snyder have a take on that arc.

With all these bad guys, and so many more they can introduce (or reintroduce in some cases), it seems like there are a lot of possibilities, in general, moving forward

Make sure you at least look a bit into my "issue #2" a few pages back haha. I want to see how others feel about my rewrite.

I mentioned this in my initial impressions post, but I would hate for there to be a sequel. I just don't think there is enough for a story there to make it happen. I'm personally not in for that.

I also thought there was enough merit for them to have made this a standalone film, not attached to the DCEU at all (like Deadpool).

One of the main things for me is this movie felt like the comics, to me. The cast really captured the spirit of their source material, imo.

I am still getting caught up on this thread but thought I would reply to this cuz its a great question. Lots of options if you consider everyone who was ever in the SS in the comics, through all the iterations.

I like Count Vertigo, Ivy, Shade, the Changing Man (he was in SS wasn't he? or am I remembering something else? Either way this is a character I REALLY want to see in a movie). Killer Frost and King Shark would be cool as well.

The Clock King would be good to plan out missions. I can see the movie start out with a well strategic plan with him in the control room.

Maybe model it to a heist movie like Ocean's 11.

Deathstroke is about the only one I'd want in. Not sure they do another though, ending kind of left that murky but who knows.

If they were to do a 2nd with Deathstroke it might be a nice way to add Green Arrow to their universe, sorry Amell

King shark was talked about being in this film but Ayer decided against it as it would haven taken alot of cgi work. http://za.ign.com/suicide-squad-thea...-is-not-in-the

Walking out of the theater now and im not sure what I think about Leto joker. In a way felt shoe-horned in and in the limited screen time he got they had to get in all the mannerisms the same way they're forced into a SNL sketch by an impersonator, have to make the most of your x minutes.

Movie itself I thought ranged from watchable to pretty good. Some things were really disjointed if not outright unnecessary like the first two scenes with Deadshot and then Quinn.

Never really read any reviews, will have to see how I match up with the cacophony of negativity that's been generated there.

Cast was really good. Hope some can show up for Justice League if it makes sense. Know next to nothing about many of the characters. That will change soon.
