Re: Fear The Walking Dead (Season 1)

    I liked the premiere.

Soms good things others have mentioned, including that I agree Nick is going to end up being the guy that leads (by the way, I'm impressed with how he portrayed his character once out of the hospital. I thought he was going to be California cool surf dude but instead he was jittery and wide-eyed and he did a great job in the latter part of the episode).

My one major complaint is that it's very clear people die and turn into zombies. So how is it that in this city with millions has no one else died but the guy in the highway and now Calvin?

No one has seen a zombie in what's been four days? So no one else has died? Just the one gripe.

Looks like Johnny Depp's son lol

I like his character and overall thought it was a strong first episode. Hopefully they continue to build each character before they focus on **** hitting the fan.

One thing WD struggled with was the under development of key characters.

Great episode tonight, kinda like that there wasn't tons of zombie appearances yet. Great story being set up with a touch of character intros/build up.

Kinda bummed about 2 weeks off till next episode. They're talking about getting out to the desert, wonder if they actually get out there and if it's gonna be the Antelope Valley.

Awesome episode. I thought the first one was kind of meh, but this one totally hooked me.

So something that came to my mind watching tonight. In TWD, Rick didn't find out that they were all infected until the end of the 1st season. That anyone that died would turn, not just those that were bitten. This was a significant amount of time after the outbreak.

However, in this show, we see someone turn in the 1st episode after dying without being bitten. And this is at the start of the outbreak. That seems really inconsistent for the TWD universe, and is kind of bothering me.

              I don't understand the issue.

I like that we get to see how people are reacting to seeing this start. With TWD, we jumped right into the story with everyone but Rick accepting this world.

The issue is that when Jenner told Rick (and later when Rick told the group) that everyone was infected and it wasn't spread by bites, this was a huge revelation, when it obviously shouldn't have been.

Why's it inconsistent? It's not like the whole world now knows that anybody who dies turns into a walker. Power is going out, communication is starting to fail, information isn't going to spread quickly. Even though it took awhile for Rick and his group to find out that they were all carriers doesn't mean other people didn't realize it earlier.

                    Yeah, I guess I don't think it's a big deal.

How many were in Rick's group at it's peak? 15-20? It doesn't seem all that implausible that a group of that size would not have encountered someone getting sick without being bit.

Or maybe they saw someone die without obvious bite wounds and just thought "well, they must have come in contact with a zombie in some way, at some point. I mean, you don't just become a zombie after dying without zombie contact. That's impossible."

Right but that's basing this on the assumption that everyone now knows this in LA, or when they do, they are able to communicate this to the people in Atlanta.

The only people that know are the viewers.

Now I haven't seen the recent episode but that's the way it is being described by Jr.

For me, it's just weird that they play it out with the first interaction in this show, but it took all of the first season in the original series for it to come out, which was set 6 months after the outbreak, I believe.

Just seems strange to play it that way.

                          I think I see what you're saying.

But I think the difference is we already know the truth so why hold it back? We knew exactly what would happen to Calvin once he was shot. What would be the reasoning to just keep him dead? Wouldn't that actually go against the TWD universe?

It would be an interesting twist, I guess. Possibly get us to ask when exactly everyone was infected. But Calvin coming back a zombie confirmed that it's been that way since Day One.

I also don't see a problem with it, hell people in LA are just trying to deal with the fact that the dead are getting up and walking and trying to find safety.

Really liked last nights episode, but was thinking last night Travis has a decent sized family..wonder who will be the first of his to go.

That's a good point. From the original series, I always assumed that there was some process with the virus before you were "infected" without being bitten. Maybe that it was dormant for a while or took time to work through the whole body.. something like that.
