All I remember is how much I disliked it. Preview looks like a different show entirely, maybe it'll catch my interest again.

Marshawn Lynch is the guy with the changing emotions shirt in the scenes with Lena Waithe and Aaron Paul

Re: Westworld (HBO)
I canceled my HBO sub after GOT ended so I won't be watching this live. If it gets decent reviews I'll binge it later in the summer. Season 2 was such a disappointment to me; not as bad as True Detective's second season but enough to drive me away. The S3 preview didn't do much for me. Looks like a completely different show that I may not be interested in even if they return to S1's style."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Bumping this thread, when I saw the season 3 trailer I was so excited. It seems to be going into a cyberpunk direction and I love cyberpunk everything.

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Anyone bothering with S3? Seems like it's getting killed around the web. Not a big surprise there. Even in the middle of the quarantine I don't have any desire to try the new season."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Westworld (HBO)
I like it better than season 2 for sure, but it definitely doesn’t live up to the greatness of season 1. I’ll watch the rest of the season, but if I were just picking up the series now I’m not sure I’d watch.Comment

It's perfect for me, but anyone wistful for Season One thematically or stylistically should stay away from the series from now on IMO.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
I really think that "Westworld" was a 1 season idea.
I'm still watching it, mostly out of boredom, but I don't see any real value (entertainment, intellectual, or otherwise) in it a this point. I'd stop short of saying I'm hate-watching it, but it's getting pretty close...Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
What an incredible waste of time. I can't believe that show got picked up for a 4th season. I think the showrunners and internet television critics are the only ones enjoying the show at this point. And I'm not even 100% sure they're legitimately enjoying it....Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Glad you are enjoying it, though! I doubt I'll be in for season 4, but I guess you never know. Anyway, I'll probably have 2 years to decide if they hold true to form on timing...Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Just finished Season 2. Some people upthread were saying it should have ended with Season 1, and I guess ultimately it did. I thought Season 2 was OK, but boy did they blow this thing to kingdom come in the finale. I'll probably watch Season 3 because why not, but it won't be the same.
But yeah, Season 1 was as good as anything ever made. I had the view that the hosts represent humanity. They're in this huge world, they don't know how they got there, a lot of them don't even wonder who they are are what they're here for, but some of them do.
And the bicameral mind idea (taken from Julian Jaynes, really interesting stuff, albeit probably impossible to prove at this point), that angle was excellent. The way they explored consciousness and how self-awareness can bring spirituality to the fore was really excellent.
It always tickled me how rude, cruel, and non-empathetic most of the "human" characters were. I suppose the people willing to work in a place like Westworld were more likely to be like that, but I think it would've been much more interesting to have some human characters who recognize the hosts have long since passed the threshold of being living beings that deserve freedom and rights. I know to some extent that attitude is inherent in Dr. Ford and Arnold, but I'm talking about people who had nothing to do with the hosts creation actually accepting them as free beings. Dolores thinks she wants to destroy all of humanity, but if some people come along and change her mind on that, that would be very interesting, IMO.
Along those lines, I was hoping Dolores and the hosts would've broken out into the real world and discovered that the sort of humans they've been dealing with are only partly representative of humanity. Maybe Westworld was actually a secret amongst the wealthy elite, and once the regular humans meet them, the hosts would find many friends and advocates.Comment
