    Re: Westworld (HBO)

I like this show but I would like it even more if I didn't stay confused about half the time while watching it.... but I guess maybe that's the point?

I really like the world that they built but I don't know why most of the characters are doing the things that they are doing. Like what's their motivations? Dolores is looking for Glory (I think?) and William is playing a game built by Ford? But what game and why, where's he even going and what timeline are the events occurring in?

Of course, the timelines make things even more confusing. Like I have no idea if the events with Bernard and Elsie took place immediately after the massacre or two weeks later when Bernard woke up on the beach or what?

I enjoy the world that they build and the story is intriguing. However, I'd prefer a more linear, easier to follow story. If someone eventually put everything in the correct chronological order to where I could semi-understand everything I would probably go from liking to loving the show but as is I'm not sure it's in my Top 10 favorite HBO's shows ever.

I can only suggest two things:

      1. Watch analysis videos on YouTube. Alt-ShiftX is my favourite, but he's only done a general season 1 video and is covering the individual episodes of season 2 as it airs.

      2. Rewatch the episodes to get a better grasp on things you may have missed on first viewing.

The very notion of a fan-edit (or the creators offering a different, chronological cut) would greatly alter the show and how the story is presented along with its impact on the viewer. I'm sure when the series is over, someone would try such a thing, but I certainly can't imagine recommending such a version to a first-time viewer.

Edit: I also really like EW's recaps. HBO provides their own as well.

Hate to say it but I checked out after the 2nd episode.
I don't like the direction the show has headed. I loved Season 1 but I can't get into S2 at all.

The show is different, I agree.

While I like it a lot, I don't know if I can say it's easily the best show on television anymore.

            Still solid.

I expected the Samurai World stuff to push me away but it's been awesome.

Big fan of how they committed to actually having so much of the dialogue in Japanese. Loved Shogun World.

Loved how Shogun world copied everything about Sweetwater down to having the music be Paint it Black playing in the background.

I also lost my **** when I realized it was Wu-Tang's C.R.E.A.M playing during that last scene....

                        Finally finished the newest episode.

As I already said, show has changed but I understand because it's a whole new direction and storyline. That said, this is still my go-to show every week.

I dove into some theories about this season and oh, boy, it has me super excited about the potential of this season even if only 1% of the stuff actually happens.

knew i wouldnt like the second season.
I loved the first season seeing how it was still a mystery.

Second season I barely made it through the first episode.

Hope Im wrong, but Im not gonna make time to watch this now. Ill check this page for updates

Agreed with most others here. This is what I feared with S2 and seemed inevitable after S1. I still look forward to the show every week but it's not the juggernaut it was in S1.

I too loved the first season and the first 2-3 episodes of second season but since then it's been .

I'm getting a bit bored, burnt out and they just keep throwing more confusion at us without much solutions. I'll keep trudging along hoping this picks up.

For me it's better than ever, but as I was watching the last episode, and having a sense of what a lot of OS heads want in a show, I was thinking, "I can see OS peeps getting more disillusioned by the second." It is what it is.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
