Re: Westworld (HBO)
I believe they are.
HBO only cares about total viewers not the typical ratings television shows like TWD weigh their success on.
No commercials. Multiple streaming options. Multiple replays. I watch the show Monday mornings. HBO understands that."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

The theorizing has heightened my experience. I like the show a lot but I love reading about it as well and it makes the show so much better."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Westworld (HBO)
No posts yet on last nights episode?
I actually liked last nights episode, I still think this is a two year series at best.
Anything more than 2 years and it will get really boring.
Lots of new info last night, thoughts??ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
I honestly thought last night's episode was fantastic. Easily the best one yet.
I somewhat agree with you in that I don't know how they will make this last more than a couple seasons. To me, that has nothing to do with its quality... just the pace at which the narrative is going.
That doesn't mean something else couldn't happen that expands the plot though.----------------------

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Finished watching last night's episode and I think I'm done trying to figure this out, lol.
So many different things going on.
Spoiler
Found it interesting that Dolores was listed as one of the original Arnold hosts.
I have a question though, how did the MiB know about Wyatt? Wasn't that backstory just created?
And as soon as he was, suddenly the MiB needs him to figure out the maze?
I really, really enjoyed last night's episode. It seems to be taking it up a notch as far as revealing information. The overall pace has been fantastic IMO.Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Another banger in my opinion. Loved the information in this one even if some of it still raises questions of "What the **** is happening?"
One thing I noticed while watching is how often characters change clothes from one scene to the next, sometimes even in scenes where the action is perceived to occur directly after the previous.
For example: after Bernard speaks to Elsie and she alerts him that she's going to go for that promotion, Bernard's very next scene is approaching someone by the virtual map to find out about Sector 17. The very next scene, Bernard is at Sector 17 visiting the house.
Here's the interesting thing: Bernard is wearing different clothes in each scene.
But the scenes are shown as if they are happening right after the other. So unless someone wants to assume Bernard took three days to go from "something is happening in Sector 17, to is anyone in Sector 17, to finally visiting Sector 17" (because don't be ridiculous) then I think this show is definitely playing games with their editing and timelines.
And please I don't want to hear the excuse, "the show was reshot many times, probably just a screw up." No series is screwing up that badly. It's clearly on purpose.
We're being deceived and I'm looking forward to learning why."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I didn't even notice that. Good catch. Although I can't think of a plausible reason why those events would happen at different times.Another banger in my opinion. Loved the information in this one even if some of it still raises questions of "What the **** is happening?"

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Neither can I so it confuses the heck out of me.
I will say this, Bernard was wearing all black when he asked about Sector 17. It's the same outfit he wears when questioning Dolores.
But I think what I liked about this scene (and I watched it many times because everything was off about it to me), is how vague it is.
Bernard asks about Sector 17. But doesn't go any deeper. If this is happening in the past or future or whenever, it could be about anything in Sector 17. We assume it's about the 5 undocumented hosts but it doesn't have to be.
Also, he's referred to as Mr. Lowe. Everyone has always called him Bernard. Now this one person in a vague scene where Bernard is wearing all black like he does when questioning Dolores, is not going to call him Bernard?
It's fishy. Something more to that scene to me."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Westworld (HBO)
And I realize I'm being a bit vague as to why some of those things matter to me, but I'm trying to talk about it without talking about some of the theories out there.
The Bernard theory (and not the one about him being a robot, because I do think he's a robot) That's out there is gaining a lot of steam for me as a viewer.
Though there is a scene last night that might disapprove it. I just think there's been a lot of vagueness in the dialogue and storytelling. I can't assume anything is at it appears."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I'm positive Teddy or Lawrence told him. I can't remember when exactly."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
