I honestly think they don't know yet who they want to kill. I don't know if they want Negan hated or respected by viewers. The only two that I can think of that would "take it like a champ" and get up after the initial swing while fitting into Negans rules are Daryl and Abraham. But something is telling me they didn't focus multiple episodes on Eugene for no reason.



If they kill Daryl then the gloves are off and Jeffrey dean Morgan is just going to be kicked off as a meaner more ruthless governor. If it's Abraham or Eugene then they set up a scenario where his character can have more depth because viewers would be open to it. They have talked so much about JDM and how he is received by fans I think they truly didn't know how fans would react and were hesitant to commit.

This is where I'm at with my Eugene prediction. He made amends with Abraham, he gave the bullet recipe to Rick, he already basically sacrificed himself as a decoy. So a pounding by the bat will just be a different means to his end.

Plus, the "take it like a champ" comment. You would expect a tough guy like Daryl or even Glenn to eat it. But Eugene would be a surprise all around. Besides, Negan wants Rick's group to essentially work for him. He can't take out anyone seemingly important. If he knew Eugene was sent as a decoy-sacrifice, he knows he isn't useful enough to keep around.

The more I think about it the more it seems pretty clear. Daryl is shot and beat up. Glenn had his little outburst and didn't immediately catch one. Rick and Carl seem safe. It would have to be a complete surprise like Sasha or Rosita if it isn't Eugene. I'm confident Michonne is safe and same for Abraham (with his "bring it!" chest puffing). Only leaves a few candidates.

I'll be sick if it's Maggie but she could be the surprise. Everyone talks about Daryl because Norman Reedus is a popular actor but Lauren Cohan (actress) seems to be gaining some traction outside of TWD.

I think Maggie would be one to resonate with the audience and still have people tuning in.

People keep bringing up Negan's code from the comics as to why Maggie and all the females are safe, but we don't know if they're keeping that for the show yet. We don't know what they're toning down with Negan besides his speech.

It sucks because this was a moment I was really not wanting to be let down with, they still have a chance to bring back the audience they turned away with the Jump Shark moment, but I don't trust the writers to do that anymore.

Maggie was near death so she would be less likely to be an able worker. If he really did care about that kind of stuff she'd be a logical choice.

I'd be stunned if they killed off Maggie like this. A pregnant, sick Maggie no less.

I just could not see it being Maggie, she's the weakest link right now. Putting aside Negan's morals, she's pregnant, and sick. Why would he kill her? That could be future leverage against Rick. Don't see it happening. I'd have been more shocked for Maggie to meet Lucille than to see Rick go on a date with Lucille.

If it's Eugene, it's a complete travesty and an absolute joke. Why have this huge cliffhanger and building up your twitter trend for it to be a character that not one single person will be bothered by being killed off. Same can be said about Abraham, he's a nobody. To get Negan over a big time villain it has to be someone that people care about. There is no options other than Glenn or Daryl, as far as I'm concerned. Anything less than one of those two and they've failed us all on top of cheating us with the cliffhanger.

Folks we do realize that there is always more than one possibility when they write these things right? And I think they know who they want but are also aware of fans. Say what you will but fans are a "power" when it comes to this stuff. They are also an annoyance. It's the same thing with gaming. Developer makes a game, fans complain, developer works on the complaint even if it doesn't make the product better or even if it worsens the product.

As for who got the bat.. I think if you are a Daryl Dixon fan you have to hope Norman Reedus' new show Ride fails miserably. If it takes off, he's a goner IMO because then they have a great rationale for killing him off. If you want to see Reedus just watch Ride. If you are a Glenn fan you have to hope Ride is a success and if it is Glenn will live but may have to pick up the pieces and rebuild his life without Maggie. Now there were some suggestions that it could have been Eugene or even Abraham. We'll have to wait and see.

In any case, I'm not upset with the cliffhanger. As I see it, I'm saying goodbye to a character I've walked with for at least 2 seasons or more. That's not something I want to spend the entire summer thinking about. Either way, director's/producers are not going to win. If they would have shown it and if it was someone that people didn't want to die, people would still be mad. So be mad. You were going to be mad regardless.

This is my thinking as well. I think they did it this way because they wanted to see how fans react over the summer and speculate on who got it. Then based on that they could go all sorts of ways. Knock out the most popular. Go against the grain and take out a completely unexpected victim. Go with a "B" character. So many possibilities. I will say it did suck though. The speech was so epic it would have been great to finish that scene off.

They should've just whacked Glenn when he interrupted Negan. I agree that if it's not Glenn or Daryl then it was a total waste.

I'm sure many here on OS share your sentiments and you and others who think similar are entitled to those opinions of course.

But please don't speak for everyone when sharing your thoughts. So many of you guys giving your opinions speak in absolutes.

Seemed like Negan confirmed it wasn't Carl or Rick when he said "if any of them yell, cut the boys eye off and feed it to the father". That implies Rick and Carl aren't the ones being bashed in.

Guys, this is a simple request and most have been fantastic about putting them in spoilers and stating it's a comic spoiler.


But those of you who have read the comics, please be extremely conscious that there are many who haven't. None of us want to know what direction the comics went or is going.

It's been asked several times and it's really a point of just being courteous. Don't know why we can't follow that.

Good ending. Looking forward to when they start the new season. I'm honestly not bothered by the choosing. I'll just focus on other things. I do know that Rick and are safe. I'll be laughing if it's Michonne because of the bad luck Rick's females have. Like Darryl but it looked like they were phasing him out. It was a good show. Sucks that they were cornered like that. I would have just went the first way again instead I'd driving ask around the world and back.

Also for those who want comic stuff spoilered then you should spoiler stuff that happens in the show as well.

1. Its not hard to do.
2. I see it as the same rules for the show being aired. If after 24 hours the show can be spoilered on here then the comics should be as well since its a couple of years old.

I for one hate nothing being spoilered. Rather have everythibg spoilered and labled rather than nothing at all but if one doesnt have to than the other shouldnt either.
