Good story, characters I care about, pacing and a great villain. I really enjoyed Logan(last comic movie I've seen). I also enjoyed Man of Steel. I was super excited for WW, but culturally I don't think it was intended for me. I really don't like movies set in that time period, but I was too hype for WW to pass on it.

      Re: Wonder Woman (2017)

Just woke up. Man here is where I am after being lost in the sauce LOL. I watched Wonder Woman with my mom when I was a kid and loved that show due to is humor. I also got into the character as a comic collector in the late 80's up until now. That's my context for this character.

As an origin story for Wonder Woman I thought the film was well done. I think it captures the mythos of Wonder Woman well and I think the film actually stands alone in the DCEU in terms of where they can go with it. I'm just thinking about Justice League in November and while Wonder Woman is a part of that this film IMO gives a sense of independence of the Wonder Woman character from that. I think it also gives the character a sense of independence from the other two big DC guys, namely, Superman and Batman. I thought that was great move to establish that going forward.

One of the things I liked about this film more so than BvS is that with Wonder Woman, when they got to those somber moments they actually fleshed them out rather than hitting you with another one or pushing something else upon you. And the film balanced the somber moments with the humorous/comedic.

And man, the score was very well done. Jesus. I'm not going to spoil anything but there were some scenes where the musical score really hit home and brought that raw emotional dimension to the action. Very well done. I'd buy the soundtrack.

I think we could have benefited by being given more about the Amazons since this is an origin story. They did enough to create some curiosity here but didn't answer any questions regarding these characters except for their basic background.

Back to some positives though. I think the way Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman as a stranger who is entering into the world, as a stranger, who does not operate under the same structures of meaning that those in the world do, I thought was a great device to make it more believable for when she finally stepped into her powers. She has knowledge of humanity, but no experience and it is the experience of humanity that deeply disturbs and troubles her.

In terms of origin stories, I put this up there with Batman Begins and Spider-Man 1. In terms of battle scenes, I'd say the battle scenes are comparable to Man of Steel, although I think these are done better. Ultimately, I'd say just relax, go in with the mindset of having a fun time. One last thing, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor really sold this film and really was the catalyst that pushed Gadot as Diana to become who she is.

The sum up, in terms of comedic relief the film took me back to being in the living room with my mom and brother watching Linda Carter and Lyle Waggoner but then gave me some serious moments of a woman who is discovering a wider understanding of who she is as she experiences humanity. I'll stop here. Lots more to say.

Definitely going to see it again before All Eyez on Me on the 16th.

        Re: Wonder Woman (2017)

I liked it, but not as much as I wanted to. It reminded me of the first Captain America, which is to say I think I'm realizing the thing I don't like is fictionalized versions of real wars where superheroes save the day, just not into it. A really dumb thing that I kept getting distracted by was Ares powers lol, when he starts throwing lightning bolts I was just like wut.

It's a really fun, weird movie. There's something for everyone I think. There's cute humor in the scenes where you see her adjusting to life with humans, an epic battle to end it all, and Wonder Woman as a character I liked a lot. They went Suicide Squad level corny with some of the ending dialogue but it was good overall I'd say. The best DCU movie put out, as a huge Superman fan I thought this would be much more enjoyable to a Wonder Woman fan than Man of Steel was to me.

Fantastic movie, can't think of any real negatives or complaints. This is one of my favorite origin stories for sure, they did one of the better jobs selling me on her being an actual hero (way better then Superman at least)

I really enjoyed the movie. It was probably my favorite super hero movie since The Dark Knight.

I am biased as I much prefer the DC characters and tone to marvel. I think this movie did a brilliant job of adding some more comedy and lighthearted moments to draw in a wider audience, but still kept a lot of the more serious and heavy tones that the DCEU has been hammering us with to this point.

              Re: Wonder Woman (2017)

Going to see the movie in about 3 months cant believe how while its reviews are. It is at 94% now that would tie for the highest by a superhero movie if it stays there 218 fresh 15 rotten. Even if it drops most likely will not drop below 92. Hopefully the movie lives up the that hype as I never cared for 2 of the 90+ superhero movies in Iron man and GOTG and find one other one in avengers to be overrated. The interesting thing is when you look at the like 11 superhero movies that are at 90+ counting WW they are happing more often now. 2 of them this year in WW and Logan this year, 2 last year in doctor strange and Captain America civil war, 2 in 2014 in Xmen DOFP, GOTG. So point being out of those 11 6 have happened in just the last 3-4 years and on top of that other ones that are close to 90 like Captain America winter solider and its 89 and yet people complain about to many Superhero movies even though the quality of them is getting better the last few years. Yes there are some that have not been good but that is like any type of movie.

                Re: Wonder Woman (2017)

Great film. For me, only the second and third Dark Knight films are better in the DC Universe, and not by a large margin. I could nitpick some of the action choices near the end of the movie, but it doesn't detract from the overall greatness of the story. IMO, they did a great job of taking aspects from every era of Wonder Woman's history including the now defunct New 52, which despite outcries from WW traditionalists, was a great narrative period for the character.

I was originally against the time period chosen for the story, but I now see that it was a perfect choice.

Saw it this afternoon & loved it. Loved the WW1 setting, humor, & action scenes were all top notch. The amazons in battle was really well done. Also got a Wonder Woman popcorn tin while at the cinema. Had a great time overall.

Great movie, id put up around the second tier of Marvel movies and better than anything DC has done outside of the Bale Batman trilogy because the tone is so different it's not a good comparison..

FX came up a bit off in some scenes and had some Leeloo Dallas flashbacks as one bit of the plot felt like it was taking forever to get through.

Gadot was fantastic and Pine was great.

So went and saw the movie at 7 with a friend and then went to his place after and just got home. The movie was really good not in like my top favorite superhero movies but still really good movie worth watching and will be buying the movie on bluray for sure when it comes out. The action and story were both really good and the story made me think of god and the devil. The end part did get a little to CGI and long but still a really good fun movie. I think I am going to post a list of my top like 20 or so superhero movies some time soon. I know I need to add logan to it and doctor strange but I need to watch strange again before I can give a list.

Anything with Wonder Woman/Gadot is a solid A. It's just a lot of things outside of her that hurt the movie in my opinion.

                              Overall I'd give this movie a C+

I admittedly was one of them. But I thought she was the only redeeming factor in BvS. I also then liked her in "Keeping Up With The Joneses".
