Sutherland's character is actually fired by the President the day of the catastrophe, obviously effective at some future date.

He's #12 ( Secretary of Housing and Urban Development) and of course would only jump to President if 1-11 had died.

EDIT: The pilot has received very good reviews.

Very excited for this. Anything with Jack Bauer is good. And yes, he's Jack Bauer. Always.

I guess some could have survived.

I'm hyped for seeing President Bauer!

Is it just me or has Keifer lost a good bit of weight recently? I wonder if it's for a role or he's just losing weight for another reason..

I always thought he was relatively thin.

I'm hyped because you have a fish out of water, never elected to any office president facing easily the biggest crisis in American history....with virtually every US congressman and senator dead. Keifer is perfect for this role.

I agree, to me he's always been pretty skinny.

I can't wait for this! I've always thought Jack should have been president.

I'm not pretending to know what this show's story or advancement is whatsoever, but it would have been cool to see some Jack Bauer roots again. I don't mean protecting/torturing, but I just mean underdog, lacking of total power and control, having political decisions made away from his person as he pursues logical decisions, etc.

                  Either way, I'm totally in.
I agree about slowing down, but unfortunately, the modern audience doesn't agree. The "plot" or what people perceive to be the plot has to move along briskly.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Yeah I love movies and shows that slowly build but my wife for example hates them...if something doesn't happen by the ten minute mark she wants to watch something else..

I have been waiting all week for this. I'm pretty excited for Jack's return. I'll always enjoy him in any capacity.

Edit: Except his new country music stuff, heard the first song off his upcoming album today. I don't think I will like him in that capacity lol.

I will get detailed once others make comments but I think this is a solid set up. There are a few technical things that got under my skin but otherwise this show has me interested enough to give it a few more episodes.

My thoughts (very biased) are that no matter what they call him, Jack Bauer is back in a different role. Can't wait for the rest of the season.

Absolutely loved the pilot. I don't really like the wife though. She irritated me constantly in Californication too.

Thought the pilot was 'OK'. A little disappointed to be honest, it was kind of surprisingly boring. Living up to 24 will be tough, but I'll stick around for another episode or two.
