    Kiefer Sutherland-"Designated Survivor"

"Sutherland’s character starts as a cabinet member who ranks low in the order of presidential succession but is thrust into the nation’s highest office after all ahead of him are killed in a catastrophic attack." (USA TODAY)

For the record the lowest four cabinet positions that make up the succession order are (14) Secretary of Energy, (15) Secretary of Education, (16) Secretary of Veteran Affairs, (17) Secretary of Homeland Security.

TV series that's going to be on ABC.

Interesting premise, apparently it's going to hinge on some conspiracy.

This could be good. I know Sutherland can bring it home... hope the writing is there.

Good to see a couple of my peeps, Maggie Q, and Natasha Mcelhone in this. Kiefer being attached will get eyeballs to the pilot, but I don't know how many of those people they're going to keep when they see what kind of show it actually is.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Wow...This looks pretty damn interesting. I love that Sutherland's character is wearing '60s styled glasses. It's a visual representation of him being lower on the totem pole and more of a think tank kinda person than anything else. He's essentially way over his head here.

Definitely going to check this out.

                    Starts in five days (9-21).

I'm curious about the synopsis of the series stating that all members of the cabinet (except Sutherland's character of course) are killed at the State Of The Union address. Unless I missed something wasn't the entire Congress wiped out as well? The explosion looked like it obliterated the Capitol Building.

Yeah, that looked like an event that would kill the entire congress. It will be interesting to see how they play that up or try to make up some way where a majority of them survive. This is my one "DEFINITELY try to watch" series of the season.

I'll be watching for sure, but one thing that TV shows always do to me where I'm like, "... slow down!" is they do way too much way early on.

Case in point, I would have been equally as interested in a show where pretty much every season another president (or interim) was assassinated until his spot came to be. I'm not pretending to know what this show's story or advancement is whatsoever, but it would have been cool to see some Jack Bauer roots again. I don't mean protecting/torturing, but I just mean underdog, lacking of total power and control, having political decisions made away from his person as he pursues logical decisions, etc.

                        Either way, I'm totally in.

I follow what you're saying here but um, it's not very realistic for presidents to be getting assassinated every year like that. That would bring mass chaos to the country and might even prompt a military take over.

Sutherland is said to be a very low ranking official once he becomes President. That's pretty remarkable and makes for an interesting story IMO.

Hope he's not #17, that would mean he obviously failed the job

I love it, the actor Kal Penn, is a writer on the show and worked with Kiefer, I think on Season 6 of 24. Also, Kal Penn played in the Howard & Kumar movies.

He played a terrorist keeping a family hostage across the street from where he lived.
