And it certainly looks like there is "something going on," despite aforementioned reports/rumors.

I liked the movie but i really hate shaky cam. Not that it makes me sick or anything but I think its a lazy way of film making imo.Comment

Amazing. John Goodman was just awesome. Don't read up on it. Just see it.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
Just came back from seeing it. Not saying I have mixed feelings, I liked the movie just fine... but I just have to process what I expected to see versus what I saw. I won't spoil a thing, and I would recommend others see it as well. But... eventually we'll all have to talk about it.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
Considering how I've heard IMAX cameras generally work with being so loud and many of the scenes being so intimate, plus only a $15 million budget, I'd say not every scene was filmed in IMAX. I didn't even know any were, to be honest.
Even if much of it was, I do not think this film necessitates the biggest of screens. Find the theater that has the best sound equipment though, for sure.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
This was nuts. I haven't watched a movie that made me feel this uncomfortable and nervous probably since the Conjuring.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
Just got back from seeing it.
Spoiler
So, am I nuts for thinking that this movie is clearly part of the Cloverfield universe?
I'm looking forward to part 3. I wonder if they'll take a completely different angle like this one did?
Also, what are your thoughts on the Goodman character?
Did he really kidnap and kill that girl? Sure seems like it?
Was he planning on making Michelle his new Meagan? I didn't think he was a sexual predator until he decided to shave and get all dressed up for her. After that, not sure what his motives are.
All in all, I really liked it. I liked how they pigeon-holed a "Misery" type storyline into a sci-fi franchise.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
La dee da, responding to a spoiler with a spoiler and putting this text here so tapatalk users aren't spoiled like I have been before.
SpoilerJJ Abrams said it was a blood relative to Cloverfield. Would have been great if in addition to a giant ship if we saw a couple of Cloverfield-style monsters on the horizon.
Goodman was a nut, don't think there's much there to wonder about. They just did a good job w/ the ebb and flow of the movie making us wonder, until all doubt was removed with a BANG! if it wasn't sooner.
I was harsh on it early, trying to stick to my guns but like the cast too much.Comment

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
Finally saw this. Very good movie, I was pleasantly surprised.
Spoiler
I just read a piece explaining an interpretation of the film that I thought was pretty smart, I won't do it justice but basically saying the film's story is a metaphor for domestic violence. Goodmans character almost follows a textbook checklist of behavior of an abuser, and just leaving the house isn't an end to all the girl's problems. She first tries to run but gets scared back into the house. She hears the woman's voice on the radio at the end, calling for "fighters" and "survivors."
Looking at it in just a literal sense, it's a very solid suspense/thriller/sci-if hybrid
I didn't really feel like it was connected to Cloverfield at all, didn't those creatures in Cloverfield come from the earth? Wasn't it an underwater creature woke up by submarines or something like that? Been awhile since I've seen it. I feel like Bad Robot/Abrams just took a film that is really well written and creepy/suspenseful/has a monster (in more ways than one) and just slapped the Cloverfield name on it. Or, I guess, will every "Cloverfield" movie kind of be its own deal but just always include creatures/aliens in some way? I dunno, I guess Abrams himself said that this film is meant to be an extension of the first film so what do I know.
Goodman was clearly a psycho killer. It just so happened that the attack went down right after he abducted the girl, right? Or did I get that wrong.
Looks like it made decent money considering the budget. Hope to get more.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
I've been reading more fan theories.
Spoiler
The ones about Emmitt, and questioning "who the real villain" is, are interesting but I don't quite think they are full proof. If Emmett killed Brittany why would Howard keep him in the bunker.
The only thing I'm still unsure about is if Megan was real or not.
