When Howard shot Emmett it really, really shocked and jarred me. I wasn't expecting him to actually do anything at all. And then seeing a clean shaven Howard directly after was extremely unsettling.

And the Santa Claus scene...holy ****...the acting was amazing.

Yeah Goodman's performance is Next Level in this one, he did remarkable job

That scene scared the **** out of my girlfriend and I. It was just so sudden and startling. She won't even watch this movie again because of how scary Goodman was in it. He's that damn good.

Finally got around to watching this....really cool suspenseful movie.

Had me wondering whether or not John Goodman's character was actually creepy or not. I think he probably kidnapped that girl, but maybe Emmett did? or some other explanation? Most everything else he was saying was true, so kinda mind trips you a bit. Figured he was completely lying

I still think it was your second theory. I haven't seen the movie since in theaters to give my reasons why, but that's what stuck with me the most and that's what made the movie most awesome in my mind. It's the first thing I thought when I saw the original poster, and it actually was true.

In regards to Blue's post

I remember that there was a big fan theory going around that Emmett was the actual bad guy and Goodman's character wasn't the actual evil dude. I never really invested too much in that idea but I recall some people had taken note of some details that, in a certain light, leave room for that perception. At the end I decided I didn't think it was the case because why would Goodman's character keep around a killer/creepy guy?

Another theory was that Megan wasn't real

This movie is great, was a pleasant surprise when I saw it at release

Exactly...I can see it both ways. I didn't think it originally, but Emmett might have had some skeletons for all we know. He also told her about the missing girl. No true answers...but given how much of the truth Goodman's character ended up telling, just makes you think if he really was just a weird but nice guy. Trippy
