As I say anytime I hear about a King novel getting the Hollywood treatment, I just hope it's done right and not given B and C list treatment. Dreamcatcher and Heart in Atlantis (despite Anthony Hopkins) were travesties compared to the stellar source material, happens a lot really with King novel-movies, oh well (just my opinion, of course)

First movie was pretty decent. Hope they so it right this time around. Length won't be an issue if done right, I assume the two parts will be part 1 (childhood) part 2 (adulthood)
      I agree.
Most of King's translations haven't been done all that well.
The ones that have, are those that aren't from the supernatural/horror type genre.
Films like Shawshank, Green Mile and Stand By Me.

I loved The Stand and Salems Lot, but neither film did it justice.
Too many of them come off as super cheezy.

I really hope IT is done well. And I've read The Stand may be redone as a feature film(s) as well.
If done right, I think that could be the best of the bunch.

I'd love it if books like The Stand, The Talisman, and The Dark Tower(I know they're making a movie) were Netflix, or HBO productions. Feature films are simply way too short to do these stories justice.

People like what they like, but I've never thought of IT as being one of King's best. I guess the Pennywise character works for a lot of people.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

The Stand or Dark Tower on HBO would be friggin' fantastic.
I've gotta think they, or Showtime or AMC has approached King in the past.

Off topic, but I had no idea Stephen King was behind all those movies!

The reason it's a top five novel for me is simply because of the characters. Bill and the gang are some of the most well done fictional characters (especially with such a deeply developed roster) for me.

Also, I'll give everyone an uncommon opinion - the biggest travesty of King's is what they did with The Shining. Movie is garbage compared to the book, so bad that even King doesn't associate with it. If Jack Nicholson didn't turn in a good performance, that movie would've been laughably bad. Instead it's just one of the most overrated pieces of cinema in history.

Wow, that's bold. I definitely agree that the book is better than the movie, and is definitely worth reading for anyone remotely interested. I think the movie was insanely well done though.

I love you sharing your take on it, I always love how with movies and entertainment there is no "one size fits all."

As for the the "It" novel, yeah the characters are all so well written and I remember as a teenager not being able to put the book down. I felt the character development and sense of caring about their well being was something I didn't get as strongly from a King novel until Dreamcatcher

Yeah, it's not a popular opinion. I had read the book a month earlier and had heard nothing but the incredible things people say about it and I actually almost turned it off.

I tend to agree with you a lot on King's work, and I 100% agree here as well. The Shining is definitely in my top 3 novels of all time. The movie however doesn't hold a candle to it. I liked the atmosphere in the movie but that's about it.

I really hope they do IT justice. I absolutely loved that book. IT, Salems Lot, and the Shining are definitely my 3 favorite King novels.

Everything's been covered already it seems.

Can't wait and I hope as all have said, it's done proper.
