Im just waiting for the JAWS reboot. Rumors forever. Any decent budget shark movie seems to do OK. Can you imagine what the GrandDaddy reboot would generate?

Too much money involved for it not to happen at some point.

My only wish is they forgo CGI and build a Mechanical shark like the original.

I think this would be a huge fail. Jaws was iconic of course in that nothing like it was seen to that point. Since then naturally all of the alternates have been done and the "magic" of it is spent. The only thing I could foresee them doing differently is following the original book story line more. But even that wouldn't be enough.

I mean how can you outdo this?

I agree I doubt it could ever live up to the original, as it is a true masterpiece.

That said there is too much money IMO for it not to happen at some point.

I think if they stay away from a crazy aggressive/Fast super shark and make it more "realistic" like most of Jaws attack scenes, it could look amazing with a new animatronic shark.

Ill tell you what I would be very excited.

Agree. Just reminds of Robert Shaw going way too early. As great as he was in that scene still thought Doyle Lonegan was his greatest role.

If they were to do a Jaws remake then they have to go all practical effects IMO. There's been too many cheaply made sfx shark movies which shows off the shark way too much.

The reason Jaws worked so well is that Spielberg treated it as a "small" film and while they wanted to show off the shark more the mechanical shark they had had so many problems that they had to curtail a lot of the elaborate stuff they wanted to do. In the end that was probably a blessing in disguise.

Nowadays it'd be some big budget blockbuster hack n' slash film with "pretty" young leads who have ZERO gravitas. It wouldn't work at all.
