OS Official Horror Movie Thread

Watching Halloween Ends tonight on Peacock. Date night with the wife. My son heading to see it tonight on the big screen with his girlfriend and a couple of other friends.

We watched Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills again last night back to back.

Love em.

I have been a Halloween fan since 11 years of age when I watched the original on regular TV on Halloween night in 1981. Been addicted ever since.

This is now my preferred Timeline hands down.

Halloween-Halloween 2018-Halloween Kills-

And soon I hope we add Halloween Ends to this timeline as the preferred lore of Michael Meyers.

Before this it was the Jamie Lloyd timeline with the producers cut of Halloween 6 as the ending.

I did not like H2O timeline. It was ruined by Resurrection and H2O drifted far too off course with it’s crappy music and mask. I like H20 as a stand alone….It’s not a bad movie. But it has not aged well.

Saturday night my son and I are seeing Terrifier 2 in the theater!!! If you never saw Terrifier….oh boy.

I started watching Ends this morning. About an hour in, I had to stop for a few hours to do some work. When I was done, I resumed and watched the rest.

I'll hold off on saying anything until others have had a chance to watch it.

Hot ****ing garbage and a disgrace to the series.

After the fantastic Halloween 2018 and brutal and well made Halloween Kills which got better and better on repeated viewings…..


Halloween Ends was simply a POS movie.

I will never ever watch it again. It does not exist. Completely off the rails.

Dumbfounded this is how they chose to end what should have been an epic trilogy.

Oh well…..we will just allow Halloween Kills to be the last in the series.

Man….can’t express enough how bad this movie is.

I'm a fan of the Halloween franchise. Just a fan.

On the other hand, I'm a diehard fan of the Friday the 13th films.

Ends felt like the "Jason Goes to Hell" of the Halloween franchise. I won't spoil things by explaining why but if you've seen both movies then you'll understand.

This trilogy got progressively worse. I thought 2018 was really good. I thought Kills was a confusing mess. Ends was really bad (but at least I didn't find myself wanting to turn it off and get on with my day like I did with Kills).

I gave Kills a bit of a pass, recognizing how hard it is to make a slasher trilogy. With Kills being the second one, it's tough to pull off. I think it's easier to write a slasher movie when you don't know for sure that there's going to be another. When there's going to be three, you have an idea of how to start and how to end but the middle movie - ugh.

I'm a fan but no connoisseur of the franchise. From my relatively simple perspective, this trilogy was a dud.

It was certainly different, I'll say that.

As far as a disgrace, I wouldn't go that far. But it wasn't great. I will admit I was somewhat disappointed and a little confused at the direction.

There were some good parts I thought. I liked Cory and his character arc. The acting was good at least, I thought.

The last 20 minutes were pretty good. I like what they did in the end. But it didn't feel like a Halloween movie, and didn't feel like it was a part of this trilogy.

I will say it was no where near as bad as Rob Zombies part 2, Resurrection, or part 5. Not sure where I'd rank it though. It was more less just different, and unexpected.

I might get some crap for it, but I'd give it a 3/5. Only because of some good parts, and I did like the ending. I know most will go lower.

Well after letting it sink in the last couple of days, I can honestly I was severely disappointed in this movie, it was an awful way to end the trilogy.

Also for the record, I thought Kills was terrible as well I thought the casting of Anthony Michael Hall was terrible as well as the whole " evil dies tonight" crap that needed to be repeated 800 times during the film.

There are now 3 movies in the Halloween franchise I will never watch again,
1- Halloween 3 Season of the witch
2- Halloween kills
3- Halloween Ends

I am a huge Michael Myers fan, and this movie was a slap in the face...I am utterly disgusted that they chose to go this route with Ends.

IMO, the last great Halloween movies were the original in 1978, and Halloween 2....after that? nope didn't enjoy the series much after that...it was really hard to accept the whole Jamie Lloyd thing and take those films seriously when Michaels mask made him look like a doofus.

I just cannot believe what I watched with Ends...I give it a 2/5

You’re kind. The movie was not a Halloween movie. Michael Meyers was a guest in his own movie. It was a terrible vision, screenplay and horrendous hoodwink to the two movies prior.

Halloween Kills gets way too much flack from some in here. Other than the whole 20 minute hospital scene….it was a very well made Halloween movie with plenty of nods to the original (fantastic flashback scenes filling in the blanks of how they got to 2018 and eliminating Halloween II) fantastic kills up and down the film (Michael was a badass). Yeah some over acting. But a superior film to the schlock that was Ends.

Corey was an interesting character at the start….and it just went downhill in a hurry when we realized where it was going.

This movie is firmly ranked last for me. There are no redeeming factors to ever and I mean ever watch it again. The same can be said for Zombies Halloween 2. This is is that level bad.

Resurrection at least has a huge comedy…I can’t believe this is so bad edge. But yeah it’s terrible.

I draw a line in the sand at Halloween 3 Season of the Witch. I love that movie. A cult classic and not part of the cannon IMO even though the new trilogy gave us the mask easter eggs. It is a stand alone film. Carpenter to this day wishes it never had the word Halloween in it. His vision was to make a new story every year. Hell he never wanted to even make a sequel to his 1978 original, hence why he killed him at the end of Halloween 2.

Understand I am a hardcore Halloween fan.

For example Friday the 13th. It’s a ridiculous series….but I take it for what it is. Pure low budget fun. The original is a classic and after that it gets more and more ridiculous. I would say The original, part 2, part 3 and part 4 are the ones I always can watch. After that it is just pure camp and rooting for the kills lol.

Nightmare on Elm Street.

Original and Part 3 Dream Warriors, New Nightmare and to a lesser degree Part 4. The rest? Pure garbage.

For me Halloween has more quality sequels in a genre that is known for campy crap lol.

Anyway it’s all fun.

But Halloween Ends was a kick in the balls to the hard core fans and huge swing and miss to end what I thought was a great two films that redeemed the series.

I'm not even saying it was that good. I loved 2018 and Kills. I didn't love Ends. But I didn't hate it. But like I said, that's just my opinion. It was different, and I wouldn't have went that direction with it. But again, to me, not a horrible movie.

Will it be in my regular rotation of Halloween movies that I watch, probably not. But I'll watch it again at some point.

Absolutely. It is purely subjective. You definitely are hardcore but we definitely have slightly different taste on what our favorites may be in the series.

The level of dissatisfaction and disappointment for Ends is on the same level and actually exceeds the feelings I had when I saw Resurrection and Zombies Halloween II and that reason is because of how much I loved 2018 and now after several viewings how much I enjoy Kills.

Just a massive jump the shark from the first two in Greens Trilogy. I don’t know WTF he or Jamie Lee Curtis for that matter were thinking. Her performance was pretty bad in retrospect.

Just a wow WTF did I just watch moment for me. I am sure some artsy fartsy reviewers who have no skin into being longtime Halloween fans will tear it apart like me….in fact they may praise it….it just reeks.

A low point and horrible end to the previous two films which really were great sequels.

My wife and I just finished Halloween Ends, we both really liked it, especially me when I thought more about the movie. Plan to watch it again Monday night.

I have been a fan of the franchise since I was young and have watched all of the films multiple times. I loved the 2018 movie and liked Kills, but I just did not enjoy Ends at all. I honestly could not believe what I was watching throughout the film. The 2018 film gave me high hopes for the ultimate ending, but I was very disappointed. I personally feel the timeline of the original Halloween, Halloween 2, and Halloween H20 (being the true ending without the awful Resurrection) was the best.

I love 2018 and Kills. I am unsure what to make of Ends right now. I will have to watch it again this week to make up my mind. It does some really cool things, but I cannot help shake the feeling

that I paid to see Michael Myers and instead got to see the tragedy of Corey Cunningham. Corey is a good character, but his inclusion in the third act of what was shaping up to be a tightly-told trilogy throws off the whole vibe. In retrospect, they should have introduced him earlier if they wanted to go this route. As it is right now, the ads for Ends appear very deceiving to the general audience member.

But I do enjoy the theme of fear as a corrupting, contagious force. That part feels like it's straight out of a Rod Serling story.

Halloween Ends addressed a lot of the theories and ideas behind the franchise, it was more abstract than some folks would have liked. I'm an oddball though when it comes to this sort of thing and I love postulating philosophical theories about the nature of good and evil, corruption, etc.

Not really a very straightforward movie which is why I think so many folks are like WTF about it.

I personally love it and I think that it was brilliantly executed.
