The original Playstation had a third party controller available that looked almost exactly like the new PS3 controllers, minus the analog sticks. It was a very good controller and the only third party one worth buying (It was black and I think it was called Avalanche or something). I personally think it looks sexier than the Dual Shock 2. My only concern is its functionality, but given the success of the controller I mentioned for the PSOne I'm not too concerned. The console itself looks better than the PS2, I've never cared for the look of that console.

Just out of curiousity, is most everyone posting actively in this thread buying PS3 at the launch? There's been talk of a GTA game to coincide with the launch and the list of titles like Metal Gear 4 alone is enough for me to have this thing reserved. Personally, I can't wait till this time next year!

I'm still undecided, though leaning towards PS3. A new GTA at launch would lock it for me.

I won't buy any next gen console until NCAA Football 2007 is released. I'm leaning heavily towards PS3 because I've had PSone and PS2 and have been happy, but anything can happen . . .

I'll prolly get a PS3. It's almost a gaurantee but i'm highly intrigued over X360. I'll probably try to get both but if I can only get one then it'll be a toss up.

I don't care what it looks like ..... I do care what it feels like.

The ergonomics of the controller is probably the most important aspect of the console design - it's the way you interface. And that PS3 controller doesn't look very comfortable to me .... we'll see.

I think this past year's releases for the PS2 has been the greatest flow of games I've seen released in a 12 month period, actually starting in October with Snake Eater and San Andreas. Can you imagine a sequel to God of War on PS3....yikes! Things like that get me really excited about the next gen, and yes, NCAA Football 2007 will also be a driving force me as well.

guys bottom line for next gen consoles.... the big winner is the fans, both look great so far, and I for one will be happy to pick up both when they come out.

The original xbox controller was awful. It was way too big which is why the invented the "S".
