The original X controller was unnecessarily huge. The S type controller was a bit better. I'm just happy the X360's controller looks a LOT better.

It has dual shoulder buttons, right?

It's more that just the crappy look. The D-pad location is not to my liking, as are the trigger buttons.

To each his own, but I'd be willing to wager that most console fans are not liking that boomerang design at all.

Did I say that I didn't get why people like it? I'm saying that people are saying "it's just a controller, get over it" yet when the xbox first came out, they complained about the controller. Not necessarily anybody in this thread but people on other forums too.

I don't know if this has already been brought to attention, but Blu-ray discs hold 54gb (which Sony is using) while a dual layered dvd holds only 9gb (which MS is using). In my mind, this could be huge! 9 times as much storage space; just think what developers could put in the games that wasn't possible before, like 100 man rosters in NCAA. The possiblities seem endless. Just my 2 cents.

I was thinking that MS would also support the HD-DVDs for games? Maybe not, they still aren't as big as Blue-Ray but close.

This IMO is the key between the two (so far) next-gen systems. Big stumble by MS to only use DVDs, I mean at least use HD-DVDs (15gb to Blu-rays 25gb [single sided]). Even as the PS3 seems more powerful, the difference won't be as discernable as the xbox's power over ps2. The simple fact that PS3 games will be bigger is why Sony might get the 2nd round KO...

I have a feeling the Blu-Ray is more for getting them into people's homes for the movies, rather than the games. Sony wants to push that product mainstream.

It was said somewhere that the 360 can be upgraded to include one of the new dvd formats.

It's not a big stumble. The two sides may merge, and create a unified format. Microsoft can't wait for that, and these players will be to expensive this year. Microsoft already said they can take it down to the wire with this, but their not going to invest in something that isn't a standard, and won't be for a long time. I don't see nobody using up an 8.5GB Dual layer DVD-9, with the compression techniques that are available today. Worse case senario games come on multiple disks. Sony has put millions in Blu-ray, so they have to use it. Nintendo is going with standard DVD's too.

I think that this is probably gonna be an extra selling point for non-mainstream gamers. Didn't they sell a lot of PS2's when they first came out because they also acted as DVD players? I think that was the case with that console, and it looks like the same thing here. If people can get a relatively cheap HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Disc player, that can also play games and be a multi-media hub, I think people will buy it. Only time will tell tho, but I think this one fact will help Sony a lot. They will probably market this and try to push this as much as they can.

No. Rosters are not limited by disk space. They are limited by memory (RAM) but not by disk space.

People are barely filling the dual-layer DVDs as is ..... having 6X the space will just mean more unused disk space.

I would hope not.... the increased resolution in textures should be a reason that much space is necessary...
