Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -

This is because I consider The Complete Ultima VII the greatest role playing game ever. Only approached by Planescape Torment, and Baldur's Gate II.
Is Baldurs Gate 2 really that good? I purchased it about a month ago along with baldurs gate temple of bhaal, but I haven't even loaded them into my computer yet. How does BG2 stack up against Wizardry 8? Also, do they still sell Ultima 7? I would like to check that out.Comment

Originally posted by Bacardi151I think the baldur's gate series single handedly revived the rpg genre on the pc. Bioware and black-Ilse studios brought the dnd series from the dead and made it shine. Before that the last good d&d rpg i remember playing was the old SSI forgotten realm games. The first game was excellent, the second one was even better. The story was engrossing and the character progression was second to none. There were very few things to dislike with baldur's gate; and it only got better with planescape:torment.
I will definitely have to set aside some time to play BG2 then. I don't know how I am going to play that and Oblivion when it comes out. So many good rpg's so little time.Comment

EBay or some other online source is probably your only chance of finding U7 The game is 14 years old!!!- Also be warned it is a 2-D game.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Actually, you can install part 1 and 2 and the expansions, and there's a mod to download that ties the whole mess into one huge game, I think.Comment

Yeah... everyone pretty much declared the RPG genre dead. Then came BG.
Torment = best ending ever in a video gameComment

Maaannnn, dont even get me started on BG2. Single best PC game I ever played. You cant help but love the characters because they all have their own lil personality. It cracks me up whenever you get a evil and a good characted in your party and watch the sparks fly. They start arguing then eventually fight to the death. Good times.
And the art design in BG2 was great for 2D. The detail on everything to homes to decor to landscapes was breathtaking. I actually like the graphics in BG more than some of the newer 3D games. The 2D sprites and enviorments were detailed perfectly.
I just picked up BG2 sometime at the beggining of winter last year. I absolutely love the game. I'm currently somewhere in the middle of chapter 2 so I have a ways to go but so far its been a great experience. I love the micro management you have to use with your party. Nothing like meeting a group of hoodlums and devising a stratergy just so you wont get any of your characters killed.
I actually picked up Neverwinter Nights Diamond collection in January. Good game but its nowhere on the level of BG2. The graphics are scaled back, in fact, they're downright hideous at some points. You can only have 1 party member(not that its bad, you get much more done since you dont have to do the micromanaging) But it just seems bare compared to BG even Icewind Dale. You can even custimize your accompanying player which I think sucks but its still a good game.
So many games, so lil time. I also plan on getting Planscape. That and W8 are the last 2 classics I want to get to fill my collection.
What does anyone think about Gothic 2? I have that but have'nt even started it yet. Seems like a big single player MMO.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion discussion...
I have a question or two for the folks who are buying this. I didn't play Morrowind on the original XBOX so I have no idea about this game
How long is this gonna be time wise? Are we talking 100 hours, 20 hours, etc
I enjoyed the heck out of KOTOR, KOTOR2, and Jade Empire, and mildly enjoyed Fable. Will it be like those games?
Thanks for any replies. I'm not sure yet about whether I have the time to devote to it if it's a huge undertaking.Comment

But from the sound of how open ended this game is, you could spend a lifetime simply running around doing anything you want. It sounds deeper than GTA in regards to all the little things that can be done in this game.Comment
