I enjoyed the heck out of KOTOR, KOTOR2, and Jade Empire, and mildly enjoyed Fable. Will it be like those games?

Thanks for any replies. I'm not sure yet about whether I have the time to devote to it if it's a huge undertaking.
Hey, gr8fuldave. Elder scrolls is not like KOTOR, Jade Empire, or Final Fantasy type RPGs. Elder scrolls is about creating a custom character and doing whatever you want with him/her. If you go through and do nothing but the main quest, it'll take about 20-25 hours to finish. The fun in Elder Scrollls, though, is being free to just explore and do whatever.

Tell me about it. I only play on the weekends and for a handful at that. This game would literally last me a lifetime.

PC Gamer gives Oblivion a 93%

Pros: Narcotically addictive, brutal (that is a pro so I'm not sure what's meant by that.

Cons: Not an AI revolution, A grind, Not perfectly polished.

Oblivion is a messy masterpiece, accomplished, bold, huge, and occaisionally rough around the edges. Your adventures are more varied than those of any other game I could name, and magnivicently rendered by the game's powerhouse graphics and physics. The scenery has more in common with the Lord of the Rings films than with other games. The fights are so visceral you'll flinch at the blows. Magic is beautiful and devastating. The adventures themselves are intricate, emotional stories masterfully told, and given a new twist by your own actions.

One journalist was playing alongside me, and in the first 30 hours of play there was only a single quest we both took on. In every other way the things we saw and did were different
Sounds like what we're looking for! This is the PC version please note.

This game is gonna be my baby. I cannot wait!
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

I was already excited about this game but since I've been playing Morrowind frequently(bought it months ago but barely played it), I'm getting even more excited. All I need now is a 360

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I don't have enough space on my computer until I buy a new hard drive(too much music on my computer). I'm just going to have to wait until I get a 360.

What does Elder Scrolls play like? This game looks very interesting. How is the storyline for this franchise?

The more videos that I watch, I think that I am going to be picking this game up come next week. It seems like it's a cool adventure/RPG with tons of exploration.

There's an auction on Ebay right now, dude's selling 2 100GB HDD's currently at 45$. Lot cheaper than a 360.

nope. only RPG i've played is Fable, and I didn't play it very much. It's something i'm interested in though. I just don't think i'll be getting it at release unless I can get a good deal at Fry's. I'm also considering gameflying it.
