They should've priced it at $329. Wireless contoller and 5GB HDD. After seeing the prices of the accessories i'll definitely be getting the premium version.

And that's why I still think people will more likely buy the bundle. Because if you look at the prices of the accessories, it doesn't make any sense to buy the core system.

There goes my pre-order. I am cancelling it this week and will wait for the PS3. The PS3 is a much better deal at $400.

$100 for a 20gb hard drive is ridiculous. Looks like I'm going to shell out the money for biggie size. They is no way in hell I want a wired controller either.

after seeing your price list i don't see how anyone who posts here would get the cheaper one...most will end up getting better cables, want a wireless controller, etc, so 100 bucks is worth it. I don't want a wired controller anymore (my kitten loves to chew), but most current ones don't work with Live, so can't wait for first party wireless.

No offense, but if you think PS3 will be only $400 you'll be in for a shock. Sony can easily just pimp the blu-ray drive and charge $450-500.

MS's dumb move here just allowed Sony to get away with a $500 machine.

I agree, but this announcement is at least making me wait to see what comes with Sony's machine and what the price will be. I just can't afford to throw $400 at something without checking out the competetion as well.

All Microsoft needs to do is release new game play videos of up coming games for the system. Once they do that and people see how great it is (this is next generation people) the extra $100 will be an after thought.

Right now everybody is unsure about spending $400 on a new system because most people are still thinking (me included) the upgrade is the equivalent of XBOX to PS2. Once we see the games running at their best, canned food for a month won't be so hard.

Remember NFL 2K for Dreamcast? Soul Calibur? The games crushed anything that was out there at the time and 2K made most football gamers shell out the cash for the system just to play as their favorite team in the new virtual football world.

And personally, I think that's for the Japan launch. I don't see the PS3 hitting NA, until Fall 2006.

definitely...i could say now that i'm gonna wait, but when the system dropped i'd want it. Though, at these prices I know I couldn't have afforded them when i was going to school, that'd be rough. That's why this will be my first ever system at launch, when you're a kid it's really tough to get anything first (at least it was for me)

Man, $400 is going to be a bit tough considering the wife and I just had our 2nd child. I was looking for ward to getting this on launch day but it looks like I will have to wait. I was hoping the HDD would come standard and the fact that you only get A/V cords with the $299 version kinds of sucks too. Oh well, I guess i will just have to read the impressions thread until I get it.

I absolutely will. I just can't justify spending that kind of money without knowing it's the best system out there. The days of buying multiple systems are over for me. I mean we'd be talking about $1000 for both systems.
