    Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

MS could have made so much money if they left out everything in the bundle except for the wireless controller and HDD...I would have bought the bundle. But im not a talker online..and I dont see what people are going to do when they DONT need component cables. Unless MS is throwing in S-video and A/V cables...which would be a waste of money to them...They could have made more money on the headset, HDTV cables, and anything else that is in the box.

I think it has to be compatible. Just like you can't buy a hard drive that isn't compatible with the XBOX, or can you? Maybe after a few months there will be people that break open the coding to allow use for other HDD.

Honestly, after reading a few of the posts on the first couple of pages, I just realized that I really don't want to get an overpriced system. I paid for mines already through a "friend" and I'm sure that I can't exchange it. Sucks a bunch cause then I'm out of luck. I don't want to pay $100 for a drive that isn't even a proper size for its pricing, but that would be the only way I'd get a HDD. The PS2 drive, though it seemed useless to most who didn't know how to "use" it properly, was basically $50. It came with a new game which would go for about $50 too.

I'm a bit upset that they made a move like this while kind of misleading us to thinking that it would be the most affordable system. Almost like a steal I would have thought. Yeah, I could dish out an extra bone but I definitely don't want to do that when I don't have the cash and the product isn't $100 worth it. I'm locked with my product and definitely can't get anything at a reasonable price. Definitely wouldn't have cared about anything else except the HDD. That's what I was pushing for. That's what MS was suppose to have the upper hand against Sony. At least with Sony, they let you know the deal straight up. I personally don't know. One thing I have a question about is are there other hard drives that I can purchase from third-party for the PS2 as well as the XBOX?? That might make me feel a whole lot better....

Shoot, gas is $3.00 in the suburbs of Chicago. Think about this. It all occurred while we were on vacation in Florida so we had to pay the freaking overnight inflation which was bogus. Your first line of defense is removed. What is the difference between XBOX 360 and PS3 seriously?? Someone explain it to me....

                With other things in my life, I may need to sit this one out. Games being confirmed at $60, means on launch day, I am spending;

                $400 Xbox 360
                $50 warranty (it's a must!)
                $50 2nd controller
$60 times 4 for launch games...

                $860!!!! PLUS TAX!

This might be the first system launch I sit out on ever.

                  Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

By not getting either system and reading books instead, I would save a lot of money.

It's tempting, but realistically, once the systems are released it's hard to follow through with those plans.

I don't really understand why Xbox would come with a hard drive (standard), whereas the 360 has one optional. To me, it seems they are taking steps backward in that regard. The Xbox could utilize the hard drive out of the box.. Now, it's optional? Sounds more like PS2 and their failed hard drive, than a technological advancement, to me.

If developers are going to make using the hard drive optional, then I think the games will be held back by the fact that not all users have a hard drive on their 360. And if most/all games require a hard drive, then it seems to me, Microsoft is selling an incomplete product for $300.

                            I'm renting--not buying--Xbox 360 games until next year.

With the $140 I'll have at EB from *cancelled* 360 game pre-orders*, I'm shifting it over to my Xbox 360 console pre-order. Which was already at $200. So, 60 more bucks, and I'm game. It still bums me out that it's priced at $400 for the goodies, though.

                            * - In case anybody wondered, I had $10 on Condemned and Gears of War, and paid off Madden 06 and ESPN NBA 2K6 for $60 each.
