    Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

Yikes, I'm definitely not buying either bundle at launch or anytime is the semi-near future. $400 for the premium bundle? As much as I want to blow 600 bucks on a system and a couple games, I think I'll make a house payment or a car payment or something. I'm not going to flashback to my college years and eat Ramen for a month to play a game system. I'm not really complaining about the price, they can charge whatever they want. High end technology is expensive. I just won't be paying for it.

I remember back when the NES was $100 and thought that was a lot of money. Granted, it was like 1987 when I got one, but like someone said earlier, at least you got two controllers and a game or two with the system. I guess the $300 bundle isn't so bad, but you have to buy a bunch of accessories that just end up costing more. If PS3 is really going to be upwards of $500, I guess I can forget that one too.

      Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

Just found my PS2 launch bill. I paid $850 that day for the system, memory card, and 3 games. 360 isn't that much more when I look at it that way. I'll still bite on launch day. You get what you pay for.

I'll just need to be really careful on what games I buy and what games I rent.

dude you can get a computer for a little over that price that could blow away the 360 to pieces.

I didn't pre-order and planned on purchasing a few months after it comes out, but it looks like I might wait even longer. As I get older, it's getting harder for me to justify spending that much on a game console. Too many other things to spend that money on.
Exactly. As I said in my post about my declining gaming habits, I would say there's no way I'll be getting a 360 at this point. Too many other things to do to be spending $500 just for the console and a game.

            Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

The notion of spending $500+ after tax and game(s), makes me strongly consider myself console gaming in the future.

I was partly kidding about buying books and reading instead, but realistically, I think I might actually pursue that path.

There hasn't been a video game I've truly been "into" for quite some time, and I am starting to realize that I might just buy and play games to pass time, while not really enjoying them. And there are cheaper, and more productive, ways of wasting time.

For me, the price barrier was about $300, maybe $400 tops, with a game. But now, it seems that in order to get a game and the accessories the price is going to be well into $500, and that is likely just too much for me.

I could afford it if I wanted to, but I am honestly not sure if I want to anymore. There comes a point where one has to balance the cost with rewards, and I think that scale is getting a little to skewed with every new console release.

When the rumor regarding the PS3's pricetag of $400 was started, I criticized and said I likely would pass, and I think I will do the same here. $500 for a console and a game or two is just too much.

The draw consoles have always had for me was that they were an affordable way of gaming, but if the current trend continues, people would be better off buying a high end PC every few years, instead of a new console. PCs can be used for other things, thus helping to defray their pricetag. Consoles can't, and as their prices continue to rise, it makes it very hard to justify spending $500+ just to play a video game or two.

Exactly. I have my PC to a point now where I can run just about anything (1.5 gig Ram, 128 mb 9800 Pro video, 300gb of HD, etc.), so I think I'll just keep my XBox, play on it every once in a while, and leave future gaming to my PC.

VGA HD AV Cable ($39.99, 29.99 Euros, 19.99 GBP)
                            __________________

Does that mean a high definition cable? Is there a special cable you need for a high definition TV?

Ya'll are really not thinkin clearly. First off, you're gettin a GREAT amount of products with the 400 dollar bundle, a lot. And ya'll don't realize how much these systems cost to make, XBox is losing money for XBox1, so what do you expect? The fact that that are still willing to sell the XBox with no HDD at 300, means they are probably losing some money.

From 300-400 dollars. Were we not given that price range in the beginning? Is it THAT hard to get up an extra 100 dollars? Save money. Look, it's not really that hard. If you saved one dollar from today and to the day XBox 360 comes out, I bet you would have almost that extra 100 dollars. And for some of you, I know you can save up to 5 dollars a day. Imagine that. It's not that hard, ya'll lookin at money and runnin away from it. I can see if this system was 500 dollars with no bundle or nothin, but it's not. With what you get for that 100 dollars, it's a great deal.

Every single person, save 3-5 dollars from today to launch date. You will have over a 100 extra $$$ in your account. And ya'll still trippin? lol. It's a new generation of consoles, you expect the price to go down or stay the same?

It's not like you can't get the system at 300, but you can most definately get the full capabilities at 400, + some more.

Why would you wait for the PS3? We don't even know what's goin on and that blu-disc is gonna cost a lot.

Some of ya'll are sayin how games are gonna be 60 dollars for XBox?

Right now XBox360 has 9 gig dvd disc to make games on, while sony will have the 54 gb blu disc. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony's games were 10 more dollars, would you? And with that...they would most likely make sports games, and some other games, compatable for BOTH systems, so if they were to use up 30 gigs on sony, they can't transfer over all the features to XBox360...but that would be in the far future but 9GB for games today is WAY more than enough.

Save money, is it that hard? Ya'll sayin wait for the PS3...when you gonna have to save maybe 200-300 extra dollars, plus games. Sony would take advantage of this? This is nothin to take advantage of.

This is a blow to Sony if anything. Look at the bundle Microsoft is giving you, and tell me thats not a lot of items. Now sony will be coming out with a system, and they just might be forced to make a bundle. And give a good deal at that. IF sony were to do that, they are playin games to keep up with Microsoft...

                            100 + 50 + 20 + (ethernet cable price) + 30 = 200 + ethernet cable...and thats now 100 dollars. You do the math, and tell me thats not a good deal.

Ya'll jumpin back on Sony and expecting them to give you better prices? Thats a damn shame, because the games will either be the same or slightly more. And on top of that, sony and microsoft will most likely keep their prices about the same level, because sony's prices are higher than microsoft's prices for acc., it would would be "stupid", and going under would probably lose money.

I'm gettin both systems, because saving money is not an issue. Ya'll swear like it's impossible...like I said. On top of that if you get Christmas money, and save 3-5 dollars a day to PS3 launch, you will have enough money. Gettin both systems is not too hard, you look at it as if once you save the 400 dollars, you wanna get somethin else?

What more could PS3 offer you that will make it worth waiting half a year and over? And on top of that, since everyone is already complainin about money, the PS3 will be more. The games could be too...it just shows the real sides to what you REALLY want...
