Okay. Thanks for the quick response, heelsman22.

I have a couple more questions for you. Where did you go to ship out your X360 console? And was the place referred to you by MS or did you just choose a spot on your own? Heh, I have no warranty on my X360 since mine crapped out beyond 90 days and I didn't get the 2-year one when I had the chance (yeah, those mofo's at MS stuck me up good). Anyway, thanks again for the reply.

I shipped mine out at the UPS Store down the street from me. MS leaves a piece of paper with a phone number on it that can be used to contact UPS to arrange a pickup, but since I live so close to a store, I figured why bother?

Are you paying to have your's fixed/replaced? Because mine was beyond the 90-day warranty, and I didn't buy one from MS, but they said it would still be free.

I called Microsoft like several weeks ago around mid-June or so, and the guy on the phone told me then that I would have to pay for the repairs. I wrote down the case number, said "okay" to the guy, hung up the phone, and thought to myself "to hell with them!" (some other things happened at the time which compounded this situation... leaving me super pissed at that moment), then went about my business. Now that I'm pretty calm about both situations, plus with the summer season winding down for me, I feel I could call MS back soon to take care of it and get my X360 going again.

But how did you manage to pull that free s--- off with the guy you talked to? Heh, do you have pictures of that guy's family members or something? Anyway, that UPS route sounds good. I may go ahead and do that too.

So you only ship the system, with out attatchments.

I shipped mine out on the 21st, it arrived at the service place in Texas today, should have it back soon.

Heh, we should be pretty close to receiving ours at the same time. My 360 just arrived today at the repair center.

I was fully expecting to have to pay for repairs, but the guy I talked to just said they would be taking care of everything for free.

I think it might depend on where you live. It says somewhere in the warranty manual that came with the 360 that in some jurisdictions there is no limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts.

Is McAllen supposed to be the final destination of my 360 before it heads home?

Yes, mine took the full three business days to get there. I sent mine out late Friday afternoon from south eastern Wisconsin. It didn't leave the state till Monday. Yesterday it was in KY and TN and this morning it landed in Corpus Christi. I looked up where McAllen is located and it's on the border of Mexico.

MS said they don't take longer than 3 business days in McAllen, TX. Either you will have yours fixed, a refurbished one or a new one. Flawless received a new one, I hope you and I receive a new one as well.

You probably will receive yours earlier than mine.

I received my "refurbished" unit on Tuesday while we were still on vacation. That's approximately 7 business days since I sent it in. UPS left a $400 machine on the back porch.

I say refurbished because the MFG date is 11-05-2005. My first unit had a MFG date of 1-7-2006. I hope this one works, that's all I can say.

It does appear to run much quieter. We shall see.

Got mine today. It says it was manufactured 4-18-06.

Have yet to test it out...

I also got a refurb returned to me back in July when NCAA blew out my disc drive. It was probably one of the dead launch consoles as it had a mfr from October 2005, when my original console had one from March '06. So far it has been quieter and has had infinitely fewer problems. No more DDE's, or freezes.

As a voice of experience, it never hurts to get a warranty.

I feel I shouldn't have to pick up a warranty, the white box I now own should make it past 9 months.

M$ should stand behind their product. 9 months in on a 400 product - come on!

Like you said.. I should have got the warranty.... Because I should have expected this to happen.

It's all good.... I'll just sell the games and accessories I have.. to recoup some of the money I invested.

                            What a JOKE.

My 360 died yesterday btw, f- it. Don't think I'll bother with another. This will be the 4th one since launch that had to be repaired. All the dvd drives have died.
