The PC version of the 2010 Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake has broken even in just two days, said a Remedy producer on the game's official forums.

"We are very happy with the sales and hitting #1 on Steam at launch was nothing short of amazing," wrote Remedy's Aki Järvilehto. "We recouped our development and marketing expenses during the first 48 hours. And yes, we're certainly very excited about PC."

A couple years late, but this game is AWESOME. The art and sound design are fantastic and the story is great. The controls and gunplay are surprisingly satisfying as well.

          GREAT buy, especially for $15.

Might play this again on PC. The fireworks sequence is one of the best things I've ever done in gaming.

I've finished this on the 360 but I'm running through it again on my laptop. I've had to drop to 720p to get the frame rate above 30 but it still looks like a considerable improvement over the muddy 360 version.

I don't normally enjoy scary entertainment but this game kept me hooked and then the comic relief at the farm was just brilliant. If I can find the time I will have to try out American Nightmare, hopefully it ends up on the PC as well.

I'm going to be getting this on the PC soon, beat it on the 360 last year and this has to be right up there as one of the best horror/semi-survival games in years. It's a real shame that MSFT and Remedy didn't move forward with this franchise by providing a full sequel. The PC version looks like a beast based off of the screenshots I've seen.

I'm sure it does look like a beast at a decent resolution. On my laptop its basically a cleaner, smoother version of the 360 game with some nicer effects. That's not a bad thing, it was still a nice looking game on the 360.

I don't think that a full sequel is off the cards yet. The resounding success of the PC version will probably give us a sequel proper.

One of the better looking 360 games on the market IMO. Fantastic visual design.

Update on the official Alan Wake Facebook page:

The new year starts with good news: Alan Wake Franchise is -75% on Steam. Even greater Remedy news to come in 2013...

Also, from June of last year:

                      Remedy registers AlanWake2.com

The registration ties back to the developer’s headquarters in Espoo in Finland.

It comes after Remedy lead writer Sam Lake teased in some way an actual sequel over the weekend.

This game truly was a breath of fresh air in quality AAA titles. The focus on fear / story over gameplay / gore was handled well by the creators. Definitely one of my favorite games on that generation of consoles.

Sadly I don't know if we'll ever see anything else from them that rises to the AW level.

Quantum Break has the potential to be that game.
