I can just see everyone rushing to get a $800 PS3 as soon as it comes out........"NOT". If the PS3 does cost $800, then goodluck to Sony, I bet the system won't sell that much at that price. I don't care how mucg of a diehard Sony you are, thats a lot of money. Then Sony will turn around and say the HD is not included either.....lol

I'll wait also.......my xbox has been getting more play than my 360. Buying a system on launch is great, but the software is ok till 1 year.

Man I wouldn't be able to purchase a PS3. With games, extra controls and everything, that's going to cost me way over 1000 $ Canadian. Well, I am getting a 360 soon .

Whatever next-gen system I buy, I guarantee you it won't be any time before Christmas 2007. Whether there are any price drops or new models is going to ultimately make my decision. I also want to be definitive on what are exact pros and cons from each system.

A couple of days ago I stopped by a Gamestop and just asked what the guess price of the PS3 would be. I was told $600-$700 dollars and I gasped. I have the money to buy it but I don't want one that bad escepically since I already have a 360.

OTOH I went to another Gamestop and I asked the same question and was told around $400 and that Sony would take a $300 loss on every system. The guy went on to say that the PS3 would suffer any price higher than Microsoft already established for the 360.

I guess we have to take this all with a grain of salt because we don't know what Sony will decide. I'm on record as saying if the thing ships with a BR drive at $500 it's a bargain and that's minus a HD. And I would buy it at that price.

[Daiwa Institute of Research senior analyst Eiji] Maeda predicts that the PS3 will be priced in the 40,000 yen range ($343) at the lowest, while Nintendo's Revolution will be 30,000 yen ($257) at its highest. He also believes that by the time the PS3 comes out, Microsoft will likely have dropped its price on the Xbox 360.

This guy thinks the PS3 could be under 400, and he is paid to do this kind of thing where as IGN really isn't. Whats my point? No one knows how much this thing will be except for Sony so just wait and see.

The PS3 will not be under $400, I don't care how you slice it, no way. Maybe in 3 years it will be under $400.
