Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
im not even sure if people really understand whats going to happen with blu ray vs hd....
you do realize that if your favorite movie is produced by a production company in HD-DVD's camp, you wont even be able to watch it on your new shiney blu ray player.
Blu-Ray and HD will never succed until there is an industry standard.... and by the time Sony and Toshiba quit being greedy, there could already be a new universal technology that is better than HD and Blu RayComment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I agree with you completely.Originally posted by RodsterI'm with EG, my 360 has been flawless from day 1 and I still would do it again. I'm on record as saying I will buy a PS3 at launch unless it exceeds $500. For me the system seller are racing games. I love Formula One (Sony Exclusive), GT5/Vision (Sony Exclusive) and MLB (Sony Exclusive).
I think where some of have a problem in understanding you is that you seem to give the impression that Sony is perfect, can do no wrong or you ignore that past history and Microsoft can do little right.
I agree with Microsoft that 3-5% of the systems have problems. At the extreme, they sold 1.5 million x 5% (75,000 defective units). That's on average with Sony . I remember when 3 weeks after I first got my launch PS2 machine would lockup and the screen turn white. My second one lasted about 5 weeks when I began hearing a noise when opening or closing the tray. That lasted another two weeks whn the tray would not open.
I remember having troubles with my PS1 as well. So Microsoft is not the only one who has had problems at launch. Based on my past experience with Sony I would be shocked if everyone of their PS3's were flawless at launch. My bet is it won't happen. Regardless I stil plan on buying one at launch.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
Dont forget since Japan always seem to get launch systems first (ps2 psp) there are always reports of defective products, 360 has problems but thats because they are the first batch of systems launched here first..Anyone remember the psp in japan problem when u press the square button to hard the umd would eject??? What Im saying is all launch systems have some problemsOriginally posted by SoMiss2000I'd bet out of the estimated over 600,000 that have been sold, the number that have been defective doesn't even registered as a blip on the radar. It just seems like it is because those that have had defective units have decided to post it on the internet.chuckcross.bandcamp.com

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
PS2's shortage was just as bad as 360's, and it had problems too. Maybe not as many problems right away, but I know tons of early PS2's had disk read error problems.
So I don't know why you have so much faith in Sony to have a better launch than 360's.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

exactly, I agree. Half the number of people reporting these are most Likely bull***ters. I have had my system since launch with no issues.Originally posted by SoMiss2000I'd bet out of the estimated over 600,000 that have been sold, the number that have been defective doesn't even registered as a blip on the radar. Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I just think Sony has seen what happened to MS, and is planning to make better arangements. They have more time to perfect their system, so IMO, the launch could be superior to what the 360 had. Like I have said before, we shall see.Originally posted by NYJetsPS2's shortage was just as bad as 360's, and it had problems too. Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
come on now, do you have proff in writting that all these so called bad system are being reported to Microsoft. All these game sites who claim there so many broken 360's, are giving us no proff at all. Plus when the do ask Microsoft, MS say's it only like 3% of all system shippend, wich is nothing. So please without any proff at all, except for a few of my fellow trustworthy OS posters. I said I can believe what I'm sayingOriginally posted by APOCNot likely.

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
How much "proof" would it take to convince you the 360 had a buggy launch? You can cover your ears all you want, but there are a lot of defective units. Even just looking at how many people here have one vs how many have had problems the percentages probably work out to be closer to 10 than 3. That could be just because of the small sample size or it could indicative of the greater whole. I point that out only because it looks like you're trying to argue that the 360 launch went flawlessly.
These topics about speculated PS3 price all end up the same. The 360 fanboys/anti-Sony posters are quick to believe an absurd price and then make their predictions of gloom and doom while the PS3 people downplay an outrageous price. No one knows, who cares?! Just wait and see. Last time I checked, nobody who posted here was an industry expert and could predict the price of a PS3 backed by anything more than a gut-instinct.
If you have a 360 and enjoy it, good for you. If you need to try and drag the Sony name through mud to make you enjoy it more then please refrain, because it's getting old. If you're eagerly anticipating the arrival of the PS3, also good, but portraying the 360 as a piece of junk isn't going to make the wait any shorter. I feel like I'm at an elementary school playground when I look at these topics sometimes.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
Exactly if you're pro Sony you can't wait to hear bad stuff about Microsoft and vice versa. I fall into EG's camp I own all the systems and own a flawless 360 as the majority of 360 owners as well. I don't favor one company over the other.Originally posted by FootballForeverdon't read these topics then
....lol
I admit Microsoft had their share of problems and are looking to fix them to their credit. IMO Sony will not escape their share of launch headaches as did Microsoft. Sony has had a longer track record than Microsoft in the business and each time they've launched a system they've had to deal with their share of problems.
I hope i'm wrong but I feel the PS3 will be no different.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
If you believe that so strongly, I suggest you talk to everyone who posted they had a defective 360 here on OS. I think that'll give you a good idea of how many people out there bull****ted as you said about having a bad console.Originally posted by FootballForevercome on now, do you have proff in writting that all these so called bad system are being reported to Microsoft.
