Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I don't either. I say 400-500. At that price I would buy it. Also there is no way Sony would sell it for $800 or whatever that IGN article stated. No way. Like I said earlier i'm looking for a price range around $400-$500. If its lower than $400 i'll be shocked.Originally posted by FootballForeverThe PS3 will not be under $400, I don't care how you slice it, no way. Maybe in 3 years it will be under $400.Comment

And I never would have believed Sony would put Malicious Spyware on an Audio CD. Sometimes that company has a few too many screws loose.Originally posted by dagger55well all the 'experts' predicted the 360 would cost 250-300.... and then MS announces 400....

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
i'm not buying a launch so, it doesn't matter what it sells for at launch. I figure i'll get it about that same time that I got the xbox which was about a year after launch."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

I agree. Especially if Sony claims it to be more powerful than the 360 AND they will use Blu-Ray technology.
Personally, I don't see it under $500 and/or over $800.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
The Sony fan boys would easily pay 800.00 for the PS3.. The Xbox360 was selling for has high as 4,000 on Ebay, & someone bought it..But no casual gamer will spend 800 or 400 for a gaming console..Originally posted by FootballForeverI can just see everyone rushing to get a $800 PS3 as soon as it comes out........"NOT". If the PS3 does cost $800, then goodluck to Sony, I bet the system won't sell that much at that price. I don't care how mucg of a diehard Sony you are, thats a lot of money. Then Sony will turn around and say the HD is not included either.....lol
But seriously, 800 is very cheap for a next gen console & Blu ray HD DVD player.. The stand alone player will cost you at leasta grand.. Has multi HDMI support. Again, not cheap.
I know ppl cry about the cost but new technology is never cheap.. Id easily buy a PS3 for 800.00..Redskins Fan. The 82 Smurfs will never die. 83/88/92 NFL world champions!!

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
It'll be $699($799 Candian) for the regular and $799($899 Candian) for the "media edition". Good luck with that, espically if it turns out there'll be no rentals or used games. I planned to wait for the 4th edition learning my lesson from the PS1,2 and what I heard about PSP to not buy Sony launch stuff but it'll probably about the 7th now when it cost $399.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
Shhhh......TT...Bargain my behind. You're thinking inside that other type of box. No offense but ain't no system that much that's a freaking Bargain.Originally posted by RodsterI guess we have to take this all with a grain of salt because we don't know what Sony will decide. I'm on record as saying if the thing ships with a BR drive at $500 it's a bargain and that's minus a HD. And I would buy it at that price.
It's cheap, but seriously how many people are going to have the technology to use that multi-HDMI support or even utilize the 1080i and what have you? I mean, $800 sounds sweet but wait a few years and that'll be an outrageous price. Think about the price of the PS2 when it first launched and now. Would you buy a PS2 for the original launch price NOW?! I sure as heck wouldn't. Plus, Blu Ray might not even make it that long as a movie media format.Originally posted by koolbubbaiceThe Sony fan boys would easily pay 800.00 for the PS3.. Definitely going to wait and see what that price is. If it's a reasonable one, then I'll dish out money. I don't see myself tossing out money for another next-gen until about 2 years after their launch. Want to make sure that I have a good system where the kinks are all out.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I'd be willing to bet quite a bit that by the time the PS3 comes out...blue-rays aren't even that popular. It took years for DVDs to completely replace VHS' and still some people have VCR's in their house, so I doubt blu-ray is gonig to be a huge selling point.Originally posted by koolbubbaiceThe Sony fan boys would easily pay 800.00 for the PS3.. That's what I said about the 360.:y4:Originally posted by AcidWasn't planning on getting a PS3, still not planning on it. :y4:

Don't get me wrong, the 360 is somewhat impressive, but not worth the money they are charging for it right now. Not by a long shot. I think too many people bought into the hype too early and now there are regrets. I'm not saying everybody has regrets, but I do know people who wish they would have waited. And after reading OS'ers problems with the system, rushing out to get one is not appealing to me. I absolutely love my Xbox though. So no. I'm not a MS *****.
I think the PS3 will be pricy, yes, but for all the great technology inside it will be money well spent. I just wish Sony would start some pre-launch advertising before E3. And no, this wasn't to start a Sony/MS war as this topic was being discussed in previous posts.
