More somewhat good news for the PS3. The BIG question is will the only way to experience Dolby True HD Surround Sound will be to hook your PS3 up to an HDMI Capable Reciever, due to NO Analog 5.1 outputs

I have TROY on HD-DVD & let me tell you Dolby True HD sounds simply amazing. It's the BEST SOUNDING MOVIE I've ever heard...

It doesn't surprise me a bit IMO. Sony is losing ground in J-ville to Nintendo and J-gamers seem more interested in the Wee as opposed to the PS3.

Smart move by Sony, but now it appears they have two rivals MS(US) and Ninty(J-ville).

Industry analyst Mike Wallace issued an investor memo today reacting to news that Sony intended to drop the price of the low-end, 20GB PlayStation 3 in Japan.

Wallace, who covers the game industry for UBS Securities, called the move "a questionable business decision and a sign of weakness" on the part of Sony.

Stating that Sony said it made the move "in response to consumer complaints about the console's price," Wallace paints the decision as window dressing at most.

"This price cut is only on the 20GB version of the PS3 in Japan, which in our view is not significant given that the US is the key market for the PS3," Wallace said in the memo.

He emphasized that even at the lower price point, the model remains more expensive than either the Xbox 360 or Wii in Japan, and he goes on to further dilute the impact of the price drop by reiterating his view that the 60GB PS3 model is likely to be the more popular one in Japan, regardless of pricing.

PlayStation boss Ken Kutaragi said yesterday that in Japan, Sony would cut the price of the lower-end PS3 (with the 20GB hard drive) to 49,980 yen (US$429) from 60,000 yen (US$515).

I may buy a PS3 just for Metal Gear 4. After Seeing that trailer.

That's the plan...MGS4 (which I've always been hyped on) and FFXIII are to me, THE reasons to own a PS3. Since most of the other stuff will be non-exclusive or ports, the first party and true exclusives are the selling points for me.

You're kidding me with that statement. Microsoft is being shown up by Sony at the TGS. All the games being displayed by Sony are running @ 1080p with 60 FPS, and most of them are in playable form if they aren't showing gameplay trailers.

Never thought I would see the day.

Anyways, from all reports, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey have the most buzz going on the showfloor, as far as playable games go.
