Would be devastating to the ps3 if thats true.


MS could then truely have halo 3 waiting on them on launch day, and having Halo sell more copies than ps3's sold would be a huge sticking point for MS

Microsoft has already fixed a 4 year life cycle on their consoles. In fact there was an article on whether MS is bad for the industry. There reason was cause it hurts developers who have to pay more to develop games for each new system. Just when they figure out most of the answers MS changes the questions.

Sony's problem will be in 2.5 years they'll be looking at the next Xbox system that will mop the floor with the PS3. So Sony will have to spend more money to outdo their system plus it will cost advertising to counter MS next system.

Sony is starting to walk into a worse case scenerio.

Sony dominates the world, so maybe their thinking is, we can afford to put it off a year and make it cheaper. Because as good as the 360 is the world isnt buying it yet.

That would be arrogant thinking on Sony's part if they were thinking that. The Xbox360 has done very well minus Japan. Now the systems are more readily available. The longer Sony waits the bigger the gap becomes.

And in in 3 years we'll be talking about the next Xbox. Sony needs to get off the pot and get moving.

So does this mean fall in Japan and Spring 07 for US? That would ge good if so. Maybe then the price will be somewhat lower and I could actually afford to grab one up.
Lots of factors I will weigh though. 1: Will it be "that much better" than 360 to warrant it or 2: Will the exclusives be that good to warrant it.

I'm ok with this coming out in Spring 2007, it allows me to save, save, save. I see a problem here. Usually the system launches in Japan first. The Playstation came out on 12/2004 in JP and we got it on 9/2005. Then the PS2came out on 3/2000 in JP and the US had it on 10/2000.

I figure since they haven't said anything about JP, I could see this launching in the Fall in JP. We may see it in the Spring 07.

They might feel that they could be taking a risk if they release a system that costs $500, $600, or even $700 that will really trim away from the average joe buying the PS3. If they wait a bit more, they might be able to sell this cheaper and it gives them more development time.

I agree with giving developers extra time but even at $700 the systems would still sell out.

They may sell out, but I think that there would be a lot of people thinking to themselves about the $700. It's a risk that they are taking with Blu-Ray.

Now here is the kicker, If Sony starts postponing things will those 3rd party exclusives developers make no money. There is legal ramifications especially if 360 starts to heat up in the next year. You may see those developers try to wiggle out of exclusives.

I don't see that happening as Namco and other J developers have been pretty loyal to Sony. I think anymore delays will make them get nervous and somewhat anxious for the release of the PS3.

It's no different with EA and Microsoft. Sure EA was pi$$ed that only a handful of systems made it out the door at launch. EA never got to the point of saying the heck with this we're taking our business elsewhere. They knew MS would change that and it appears they have. Problems are always temporary when launching a new system.

This gives Developers like EA the time to make sure their games are complete for the PS3 launch.

If the PS3 comes in at $700, as a parent of 3, I wouldn't consider it because of the price. My children's ages are 13, 10 and 7.

Hopefully, Sony is keeping the average parent in mind. I don't know too many 13-16 year olds with $700 in the bank.
