Well, I think you should try it man. I've had a few friends who weren't into RPG type games absolutely love this. That even goes for me. When I first saw the screens and the videos I decided it wasn't for me. But it came with my 360 and once I started playing I quickly got into it. It's definitely a top 3 if not the best overall game from last year. Only Gears is close in my eyes.
I have not played Everquest so I can't make a fair comparison. As far as games I've played, I would say the best thing I could compare it to would be a fantasy based GTA. It's completely open ended, go anywhere. You can choose to be a hero type or villian type based on your actions. You can play this game for hours and hours without even touching the main quest. Leveling up is fun, the creation and leveling of your character is very fun. It's just a really great game. Even if it's not your type of game, you should at least still check it out, just to make sure. Borrow from a friend at least.
