Soul gems can be used to recharge weapons that have magical powers (these weapons have pearl icons in the inventory). Just select the sould gem from your inventory and it will give you a choice of which weapon to apply it to.

I know the shack in Imperial City is 2000, is there any decent house somewhere below 5000? Any tips on the best ways to get gold, the most I've been able to hang on to at once is 500 or so.
I had the same problems when I started. Since I was low on gold I bought the Wizards Tower add on from the marketplace. It gives you a nice house. As you play more the gold just seems to come as you do the quests. Open all the chests, boxes, coffins you come across in the caves, dungeons and forts. And grab your downed enemies armor and weapons to sell. With the carrying limit I've had to sometimes travel back and forth several times between the area I'm cleaning and a town to sell stuff.

thanks for the soul gem info. I have no instruction booklet because I bought the game used. Thank I read somewhere in the game to be careful of black soul gems....don't know why? so i'm guessing there are diffrent colors and powers?

Is this game still worth it to buy? I've never played it, and have no idea what it's about. However, i'm in the mood to play a new 360 game, and considering this game got so much love, I was wondering if people still played/enjoyed it.

IMO it has the best value (Even when fully priced) of any game released for the 360. It has long gameplay and very fun.

Yes it's definitely worth it, it's awesome and will give you the most replay value of just about any game out there. Unfortunately it also seems to be about the most finicky game on the 360 so if your 360 has any issues at all it may give you problems.

I may re-buy this game this summer when I have a crap-load of time to waste, never really got too far into it, so it'd be nice.

Wish I would of gotten the game sooner. Although the Gates are boring IMO compared to even the other main missions.

By the way, after you get troops for Bruma how long is it before the next main mission? (i've been doing side missions in the mean-time but I was hoping to beat the main story, do the site stuff and get knights of the nine) Thanks.

I've now got over 60 hours into this game and mostly been doing side stuff. I've never found a game so engrossing as this one. I look up at the clock and 3 or 4 hours have flied by.

Just finished up the Knights of the Nine quest. Absolutely fantastic, and highly reccomended. Good, unique loot with some excellent quests, and a pretty solid storyline throughout. Plus it gives you another cool base/home with some allies.
