Re: Official Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Discussion

Vampirism was cool at times but I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I once tried to make it from one town to the other in the middle of the day just to see if I could, although there is a great deal of satisfaction when you are healed.

This game was my game of the year last year and I love it but it is hard to go back to largely because of the load times, I think you have to (re)familarize yourself with that aspect.

As for the add on, $30 can get you a lot of entire games so I'll probably pass. Maybe if it was $20.

Yeah for this type of game, I don't know, I don't really like the vampire part at all. (i want it in the game, i just want to get rid of it from my character ) Does anyone know a good way to get rid of it? (or is a long mission getting many rare things the only way to go?)

When I played it last summer I asked and asked and asked and the only way to get rid of it was through the quest you are given. You get some rewards along the way, however so it sort of is worth it.

If only they had a serum you could take which would keep you from being a Vampire ala Blade.

heh later on after I made a post I decided to try it and had a lot of sucess. On the way got into 2 missions including the really fun and long Mehrunes Razor mission but I got goodies. Got VERY close to death too as halfway through my journey it was sun so I barely got into a cave (which turned out to be mehrunes razor).

Got the 5 Gem's after spending some money and got the bloodgrass when doing the frozen mission (people frozen, have to go into oblivion to "release them") so I just need garlic and nightshade leaves. I love this game.

I completed all the guilds and my personal favourite was definately the Dark Brotherhood...def worth finishing off even if you take your time doing so.

I've played this game mainly as a stealth guy...my sneak skill is over 100 while my next highest skills are only in the 60s lol. There was one item i found - Base Ring of Nighteye - which made dungeon-crawling alot more fun as a stealth-oriented although alot easier (prolly a bit too easy at times), but it beats having to use torches or waste money on nighteye potions.

At that price, and assuming the size is around 1.5GB like rumoured in above posts, i hope they release a standalone disc for the 360 version...or i'll just pass on it.
There are working on a retail version, Oblivion Special Edition, with Oblivion and Shivering Isles and all prior released content. http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/03...sed-at-retail/
This would be ideal for me since I sold my Oblivion a few months ago. I had to let it go for a while because it was actually preventing me from playing other games I wanted to get to.

Since I just have the Collector's Edition and absolutley zero DLC I may buy the special edition when it comes out.

Yeah that's what my guy is, my sneak is pretty high (though for some reason it keeps going down) and in the bigger missions I like to sneak up on the bad guys with arrow drawn. In Mehrunes Razor I got "Glass Bow" which is the best bow that I've seen, so probably one hit one kill.

As for Base Ring of Nighteye, pretty ironic. Before Mehrunes Razor I had gone to a store in Imperial City and sold a few things then looked at the jewelry and one of those times was Base Ring of Nighteye. Only costs like 230 gold and is totally worth it for very dark areas with enemies in the area.

Also I got the cure for vampirism, it's not quite as tough as it seems. As said I got the gems alright (best off buying them), garlic was tough oddly enough...because I would find a person and need to feed but get caught and realized hours later I didn't lose the garlic. Bloodgrass isn't hard, it's around especially in oblivion gates and nightshade can be bought from a store in imperial city (don't want to give it away but it's a specialized place).

Now I have to get to dark brotherhood. (best side missions in the game, btw, are from them)

I had the same problem when i bought and first played it in May last year...didn't even get out of the sewers lol.

Then in January, having decided not to sell it or trade it in (in fact i bought the official guide during that 'lay-off' period) i gave it another go and put 70 hours into over the course of a month. The guide certainly helped me but you don't really need it to get into the game. You do need alot of time though.

As for Shivering Isles, i'll prolly pass on it for now since i still have to finish the main quest.

Wow, 70 hours and you still didn't finish? I beat it in just over 30 but I'm a main quest kind of guy.

Agreed as well. When I realized the Oblivion Gates suck I wanted to just finish the main quest then do the side stuff but I ended up not doing that at all.

I don't know if it is even physically possible.

Those gates really made me mad. I went inside one and I literally walked around for hours looking for a way to close it and eventually I got sick of being in there and I left. I hope the next one doesn't have anything like those damn gates.

I still need to finish the game though cause I borrowed it from a guy for like 3 months and I had to give it back to him and didn't get a chance to finish. I got through the Dark Brotherhood, Mages Guild, Fighters Guild and I was at the Gray Fox missions in the Thieves Guild. ON the main quest I was close to the end, I had to recruit the different towns for backup.
