On the other hand, she plays the DS daily, and because of that, she just bought me a new black DS yesterday so I can play again (she felt bad that she "stole" mine). I know she would have a fit if I came home with a 360 (and I'd be ticked off myself if I spent the $$$ on the ps3), but every time I bring up the Wii, she gets intrigued (okay...that last part of the sentence just sounded WRONG).

    Anyways......

I lost faith in Nintendo with the N64. I had a NES and SNES, but then got a ps1, DC, ps2, and XBox before getting a DS Lite.

Let's just say, "I've seen the Lite"
I think that with the Wii taking the DS approach of hands on gameplay, people will be all over it. I use Trauma Center as an example. The game is fun on the DS with the Stylus, but when you use the nunchucks, it will be even more fun with the surgeries. You will feel like you are really interacting. Again, I'm 50/50 on the new controller and my stance hasn't changed. I can see using it for games like TC, but for games like Zelda I would want to play with the old school controller, but that's just me.

I was playing Clubhouse Games on the DS the other night, and just this morning thought of something with the Wii. How do you think a darts game would fare on the Wii? Hold the controller like a dart, and "throw" it forward. Easily could be done with 1 controller (pass it around), and you wouldn't have to worry about holes in the wall!

That would be f*cking MEGA! Great idea.

You could do the same thing with shuffleboard, air hockey, etc.

I think a number of those games are in Wii Play. Pool, air hockey, pinball, etc.

Since the remote has a wrist strap I would think a darts game would be pretty safe.

Can't wait for the Wii drinking games - beer pong, quarters, etc.

Got the Wii pre-ordered with two controllers! We can pick up some Gritty's Black Fly Stout and get drunk and not get thrown out of the bowling alley.

You'd think 24 hour bowling alleys would get used to people walking half way down and bowling across the lanes. I mean, really.

Online gaming info hasn't been released. It is believed to be Friends Codes like the DS, except one per system instead of per game. No games at launch have online - Nintendo isn't releasing the online SDK to developers until early next year.

                      Hope that helps.

What are Friends Codes? And that helps, I didn't realize they haven't released any information about their on-line gaming yet.

Anyway, I've been contemplating selling all my Xbox stuff and using that money towards a Wii.

480p a Go For Wii Launch
NOA confirms that component cables will be available to purchase. Pricing inside

October 19, 2006 - Nintendo last month revealed that its new Wii home console would ship with composite cables for standard resolution televisions. However, the company did not specify whether or not high-definition TV owners would be able to separately purchase Wii component cables to run games in progressive-scan, and hence we've been bombarded with a steady flow of questions from concerned readers.

Well, today you can finally stop flooding our e-mail boxes because Nintendo of America has commented on the subject and yes, your component cables are on the way.

A spokesperson for the company told IGN Wii this morning that the Wii component cables would be available for purchase with the launch of the console in November. The cables will cost $29.99 and will only be available through online retail outlets, including Nintendo's store, Best Buy, Circuit City and EB Games.

If you already own GameCube component cables, you're out of luck because these are not compatible with the Wii console.

Why Nintendo is again only selling its component cables via online retailers -- as it did with GameCube -- is a mystery, but at least the solution will be available immediately.

Nearly all of the 30 or so Wii launch window games run in 480p and 16:9 modes.
