Half-life 2 will feature the HDR lighting and some of the more subtle things that were added to Episode One, but most of the new visual improvements are in Episode Two; new shaders, revamped particle system, dynamic soft shadows, luminescence effects, full screen motion blur, improved large-scale landscape and foliage rendering.

I know this thread is 360/ps3 specific, but if you are getting the pc version, you can now pre-load portal and episode 2 to have it ready for release day.

If TF2 is as fun on the consoles as it is on the pc, everyone is in for a great experience.

Agreed, it's one of the best online games I've ever played.

a class-based multiplayer game on balanced levels, usually capture the flag or zone capture games.

There are nine classes: Scout, Sniper, Soldier, Demoman, Pyro, HWGuy, Spy, Engineer and Medic. Each class has different capabilities, they'd take too long to list here.

it's completely addicting. originally started with Team Fortress for Quake II, maybe you could look it up on wikipedia to get a better idea.

so TF is a mode within the actual game itself? For online purposes? How is the SP mode on this game. Might have to pick this up.

Heel, did you ever play wolfenstein with us on the old xbox? Imagine something like that but with the game looking like the movie "the incredibles" and each class being more specialized( for tf2). the original team fortress was a mod for quake and then half life.

tf2 is completely addicting once you play it. I havent had this much fun in a long while. Its keeping me from playing halo3 right now.

                        Heavy/Medic combo = pwnage!

Half life 2, the sp game, is one of the best FPS's you can play. In addtion to HL2, you get episode 1 and episode 2( basically hl-3 parts 1 and 2 if you are keeping count). And portal looks like it will suck hours of your life as well.

yup. Bacardi was right on, though I found TFC much more enjoyable than the Wolfenstein version of it.

You cannot play the regular HL online at all. There is no deathmatch and I don't know if there's coop or not. But it doesn't matter, HL has one of the best stories of any FPS and the two games are challenging to play through. The gravity gun is a lot of fun to use in HL 2.

TFC cannot be played offline, only online. I am curious to see how many, and which maps, they include with the game. Some of the user-created maps for TFC were so great that they have to be included, like Openfire and 2Mesa and few others I can't remember because it's been so long.

6 maps, one game type per map. It'll probably get some DLC later.

Here's is a link to some short "instructional training" videos on each of the six maps, http://youtube.com/view_play_list?p=787CF85D42A6808B <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Put my $5 down today, I can't wait to resume Dr. Gordon Freeman's adventure on the 360, this must be the best bang for your buck of a game at $54.99 that Gamestop is selling it for.
